A lot of travel magazines are discussing their own travel awards so he figured we should do our own

You could design an Aardvark themed trophy and give the award to the winners. Could make a great PR opportunity Wink

A bright orange Aardvark shaking hands with Stelios would get a few photos in the tabloids. It would probably set off rumours that Aardvark Travel was on of his ventures - hence the colour scheme.

easyJet will have to badger me a lot if they want a photo opportunity like that - just think of all the publicity they stand to get from it. Silly

I think we have to be more specific:

1. Best destination (most exotic, best value for money, easiest accessable, least overrun etc etc)

2. Best airline (taking into account service, value for money, etc.)
(doesn't work that way, every airline has a low booking class, if you book any airline in the world 320 days in advance you will get a cheap ticket)

3. Best airport

4. Best cruise line/ferry company

5. Best tourist attraction
(lowest entrance fee, least crowded, easiest accessable???)

6. Best budget accommodation (to cover hostels, campsites, cheap hotels and other budget accommodation options)

7. Best luxury accommodation (to cover luxury hotels and the more up-market end of the accommodation sector)

8. Best tour operator

9. Best travel publication (to cover travel magazines, guidebooks or just books you might read on your travels)

10. Best travel website

Just some thoughts...

It might also be worthwhile to give some "honourable metnions". That way then people get a little more scope when they see who won and what the alternatives were!

I was just surfing around on this forum to look for some ideas about rating.
I like what you are going to vote for, but only 10 categories and 10 nominees is maybe a littel to few to choose among.

We are working to make a rating system now open for all countries and only 4 categories.
The idea is to let the visitor rate the experience with that particular provider.

EX on a weekend trip you sleep in a hotel, play golf during day, see an opera at night and ending up eating dinner. Here you have 4 possibilitys to rate.

The hotel was ok but very overpriced - 3 , the golf course gave us a car for free - 5, the opera house was cold and the seats was hard but the perfomance was great - 4. The restaurant forgot my side order - 2.

Our plan is to make a top 10 list in each country for each category. Based of the median score among rates. Minimum 25 votes to get on top lists.

Hopefully this can be helpfull for your next year rewards.

Greetings from close to the north pole ! (norway)

The number of categories was deliberately limited to 10 so we can have a 'best of the best' award at the end. All ten winners will be put up for a poll, and phpBB limits the polls to know more than 10 items.

Yes, it should be "no". And it should also be "pedantic", "can't" and "shouldn't".

I am hopeless at typing and my spelling isn't that hot either. I have found the spell check that comes with the Google Toolbar to be excellent. It even works with Firefox now!
