|
|
I have been wondering whether we should have a forum devoted to introductions rather than the single introductions thread that we currently have under General Chat. The reasons for doing this would be:
1) to make it clearer to new members where to post intorductions (the introductions forum would appear at the top above all other forums)
2) allow members to have a thread devoted entirely to themselves, allow other members to welcome that one individual, and allow discussions to go off at a tangent should members so wish (which is something we currently try to avoid in the existing thread)
3) generate more threads for the SEs to spider
What do you think? Does it make sense to have a forum devoted to introductions?

A welcome forum might be appropriate. The current one is open to tangents quite a bit.
I don't think we need to quarrantine users. I think that would have an impact on some of the posts we have here. If I had to wait a day or two in order to post, I'm not sure I would have come back..and I think others would feel the same.
We do get spam...its the drawback of using the net. But, I don't think we have any real issues with spam. Most of the moderators are pretty good at getting it off of the board. |

Brilliant idea,
I never read the intros anymore, always have the feeling I should read the thread from beginning to be in the picture (strange - I know).
To have a dedicated forum for it sounds good though. _________________ African Safari Holidays

OK... next question... if we do do this, what category name should we give it?
So far we have "ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES", "THE RUNWAY", "THE COCKPIT" and "CONTROL TOWER"...
...so I'm thinking of something that's before you get to the arrivals desk... "THE CAR PARK" Or how about "INFORMATION DESK" or "LOST PROPERTY" for those members that are still finding their way around...
