Hello and welcome to the forums. Wave

Dan will be your best bet on this one since he hails from Shropshire. I think he's away this weekend but he'll no doubt be back next week to share his words of wisdom with you.

Shropshire is a county (ie. a region rather than a town or village) which occupies a central (and westerly) position within England, bordering with Wales.

Some useful sites on the area for you are:

http://www.virtual-shropshire.co.uk
http://www.shropshire-cc.gov.uk

Wow... that's a big question, and nigh on impossible to answer without gross generalisations. I would say a common British perception of Americans is that they are... well, to get to the point... loud and annoying. Now, I didn't say that was my opinion... Wink ...but is a common one, I think. Would others agree? It's obviously a gross generalisation. If you're more the quiet sort, then I think you'll find you get along just fine.

Have a look at http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/04/02/rude.americans/ (note this is what Americans think about Americans!! Shocked )

As I said, I was generalising. Don't let it stop you making the trip! Crying or Very sad My advice, regardless of where you travel, is that if you think your normal manner and attitude might affect others' behaviour towards you, would just be to remember that you are in a different country with probably a different culture to your own, and to respect this. Don't cancel trips on the basis that you think you might stand out - just try to fit in a little more...

I've met a few people who are American! I have a very close friend who is American Wink and well my personal opinion is that American people are friendly, and warm.

When I went to Connecticut last year, her friends were very welcoming, and I didnt find them to be loud .. or obnoxious.

If your loud and obnoxious, I am sure you will fit in very well in England, because they are plenty of people like that here Argue

You'll love it!
