I picked up a leaflet in a Wetherspoons pub. It was all about CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale).
If you join CAMRA (£22 for a single membership) you are able to get an 8% reduction on Thomas Cook holidays booked online. You can also get 20% of rooms at Ramada Jarvis. Then to top it all £20 in beer vouchers.
There you have it . Get drunk and save money.

Been a member of CAMRA for nearly 20 years (my God, I'd never counted before!) - the last 16 years of which, I'd even shaved off my beard....

But didn't know about the hotel discount!!

The beer tokens are good: you get a sheet of ten tokens for each quarter of the year giving 50p off a pint of real ale in Wetherspoons pubs. I always have a couple in my wallet! (The Crown Rivers at LHR T5 seems to get most of mine!)

And then you also get discounts on entry into beer festivals, if that's your kind of thing.

In fact, I have a great plan for the first weekend of August, if I can bring everything together: the rest of the family fly out to Spain on 3 August but I won't join them until the last 2 weeks of the month. So I'm on my own for nearly 10 days.... and.... on 7 August it's the Charity Shield at Wembley (Man City v some other pretenders...) and on 6 August, it's the last day of the Great British Beer Festival.... Laughing Cool So a plan is formulating...if my sister can get me a ticket for the footy, and I can work out how to use my hotel points, and I can get a cheap train ticket from Newcastle, a beer&footy weekend might be in order.... Very Happy

Only thing is the concept of real ale and the concept of Wetherspoons Pubs for me are completely at odds with one another.

Real ale is best enjoyed in a real pub, not a plastic Wetherspoons establishment

Controversial thing to say? I don't really care!

Does anybody know if the offer is still available? I'm not a member yet but an 8% discount on Thomas Cook sounds pretty attractive to me Smile
