Hi there, is it France you're looking to go to? It depends on what you like to do but how about Bordeaux? Obviously the wine is amazing but there is so much more to do including visiting museums, beautiful gardens and lovely beaches. If you want more info on breaks to Bordeaux, take a look here. Hope this helps.

Last summer I did the following route. Everything was done via train except the sites around Sarlat.

Paris -> Alsace (stayed in Colmar, visited Strasbourg and the wine region - Riquewihr, Ribeauville) -> Avignon (did a day tour of the region, including stops in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Roussillon, Gordes) -> Sarlat (visited Rocamadour and Beynac from here) -> Paris -> Day trip to Mont St. Michel

Just had a month tent camping in France that worked out well. Went to a cheese festival with many free samples plus free wine tasting. Cool

Where did you go? Did you stay in one place or region, or travel around a bit? A month is a nice long time to get around a bit!

French campsites are fantastic on the whole, from my experience? Really good facilities, clean, well-located, etc... but can be a bit expensive.

(I saw your vote for camping on the other thread Wink )

Mored around a bit well I call 1800 miles in France a bit ..........
Including visiting Normandy and The Loire on the way out and back ,The Auvergne The Lot and Dordorne. Stayed at 8 campsites costing from 10 to 17.50 euros all were nice clean sites with loads of space.
We did not intend going so far but the weather was not great so we ended up going more south than planned missing out on a trip to Oradour sur Glane near Limoges, saving that for next time as well as spending more time in the Auvergne as this area looked good.

It is better to visit France in spring or summer. Destinations which I can suggest you to visit are Paris, Nice and Cannes, as well as Lyon.

To book accommodation in advance will also be a good idea.

There are many things to do, try to plan your trip in August (second half of the month preferably, less other tourists...).
This summer you can go to Rock en Seine (music festival) but also go to exhibitions (Louvre, Musée d'Orsay...), have fine dinings (La Touche française, La Maison Blanche...), visit monuments (Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur...), go to clubs (VIP Room, Duplex).

I listed only few examples because i haven't got much time now, but ask if you want some more advices Wink

There's something you should know about high seasons and low seasons in France. When you visit on months that fall under high season, prices for everything will be expensive and tourist traps will be aplenty. Wherever you go, restaurants will offer you food that may sound exotic but they're prepared just like any other meal.

High season includes the summer months, a few weeks in April and May, and the last two weeks of December and first two weeks of January.

Low season, on the other hand, includes the months of September to November, February until March. When you are in France by these months, rates for both transportation and accommodation will be surprisingly low.

Aside from the summer season, the best months to visit France would be September till October. It's low season, but there will be plenty of festivals around the country. In fact, for three whole months, France will celebrate the Autumn Festival. There will be food festivals, wine festivals, and a few other celebrations here and there.

Hope this helps. If you need any more help, please feel free to PM me.
