I only speak english.
When I was at school, English was the only language taught. Whereas in other countries English is always taught. I think English is the international language of business so most countries teach it.
I wonder how many French people speak Italian not many I bet. |

| Learning a language has been really hard for me (I've tried both Spanish and French)... consequently, I try my best, and I think those around me in the countries I visit appreciate it. I think trying is the key, if you don't try than it can appear rude for you to come into their territory only knowing English. |

| I always try to learn mostly used words in that language. Usually I take 1week class from someone or from language institutes. It helps |

| Whenever I travel, I expect the native people to at least understand English language. I also try to understand their language as much as I can in order to connect with the people living there. |

I think I will learn because I want to communicate with them. I also want to know their culture before travelling a foreign country. |

Agree. I always try to learn some things about a country (and maybe some words like hello, thank you). That way I feel like I have experienced my trip even more. |

I would love to learn the language of every country I visited, but its not really feasible. I try and pick up the basics before I leave and any phrases I may need. I find once you know a bit of some languages - italian for example, you can pick up a lot of other languages from it, italian helped me out in spain!
If in doubt wave your hands about and point.. |

| I always try to learn at least the basics of hello, please and thank-you. It depends on where you are travelling and how long for but I think it's rude to not a least try... |

I always try to learn as much as I can and I'm constantly asking people along the way to teach me what they're saying. And I bug them relentlessly to help me get the accent right.
I never remember too much, but some of it sticks. It's useful as a waiter, too |

| I haven't visited other countries yet but in our country we have many dialects. So when I visit a new province, I only try to memorize the basic ones like hello, thank you, what, where, who, yes, and no. I expect everyone to speak in Filipino(our national language). It's really hard to learn different languages or dialects. |
