Is there anywhere in the world you would really like to visit but are just a little too intimidated by recent troubles or a certain reputation?

There are ancient ruins in Iraq that I would like to visit but there is no way I'll be going there in the foreseeable future.

If it is in Kurdish Iraq then you would be fine to go but if it is outside the sphere of the Kurdish Regional Government then yes probably not ok to go!

Iraq has many good attractions, but you all must know about the condition right now. Hope there's no more war soon in Iraq

I would like to visit China but I think some of them won't be happy to see a Filipino there.

I actually would like to go and work teaching English in Mexico for 6 months or a year. Especially as I can visit the USA when I'm there and also learn Spanish.

I wouldn't say I'm scared but the drug wars are worrying, particularly in the North of the country

I'd love to travel to Israel one day, I know it's supposed to be safe down there but I'm still a bit scared, don't know why.
I'd also like to see Moscow one day, we've already been to St Petersburg once but I guess it's completely different.

I always wanted to see Detroit, but with crime the way it is...

In honesty, I would have loved to do a Marco Polo Silk Road travel trip, but I think that following that route might be a bit dangerous for an american.

You're afraid to go to Detroit?

I guess you'd better just stay at home and watch the world from inside...

Maybe it's another Detroit... I was once in Georgia, Atlanta, and that did make me want to watch the world from inside. But they had amazing pancakes, so I had to overcome my fear.

I would really like to go on a longer journey around the islands in the Philippines without a planned itinerary, but I'm too scared I'll be kidnapped because I have no sense of direction.

Atlanta is a great place to visit, but I agree with you about the Philippines. Smile

I think for me it would be Egypt. I have long since wanted to go there to see the pyramids and the Sphinx for myself, but because of the situation there right now, I don't think it would be possible, or at least I would not attempt to risk my safety as of the moment.

There are a lot of third world countries in Asia and Africa that I would like to see, however, I would be too worried about safety, diseases etc. In some areas of countries like Nigeria, for example, tourists can be a target for kidnappers. It is a shame that many people are put off from visiting these beautiful places, but I guess that will remain the case until world poverty is properly addressed.

I'd definitely want to visit Egypt and Persia (Iraq, Iran etc) but I must admit I am rather intimidated by the political situation and all the violence and crime. I don't think that a while guy is very safe there nowadays.

Well, there's always other places to visit first until things calm down at these sides of the world Smile
