I can just about remember our first family holiday; my mum bundled my sisters and me into our Morris Oxford car and set off for a lovely hotel in the centre of Ayr. We arrived safely and booked in and then went to get the luggage. When Mum opened the boot of the car, our collie dog was lying quietly beside the luggage, having "hitched" a ride with us. She phoned Dad (he was a farmer and couldn't get away) and he told her to take the dog to the bus station and put him on the bus back home. The bus conductor tied the dog to one of the rails on the platform of the old Routemaster and the dog was transported safely back home where Dad picked him up at the farm road end.
What are your first holiday memories? I'd love to hear them.

Am I the only one who felt sad and sorry for the dog? Haha...
We'll be having our first family holiday this coming September. We haven't planned yet about where we're going to have our vacation. But I'll hope that it'll be a great and fun one. |

Well, good on you for being sorry for the dog. I clearly remember, at the time, being very sorry for us because we wanted to play with the dog on the beach! I know that the bus conductor (gosh, it was a long time ago!) looked after the dog very well on the journey home!
I hope you have a great vacation!
Best
