We're visiting OZ in February and after touring around Perth and visiting my daughter in Brisbane she's recommended Magnetic Island as suitable for a couple of old codgers to chill out for 6 days before returning to the UK.
Seems to be loads of adverts but has anyone got any recommendations for accommodation, preferably self catering. Ideas gratefully received.

Beachside Magnetic Harbour Apartment if you wanted a luxury stay. self catering sounds like horseshoe bay. but pricewise i say the harbour apartment would be keeping you well.
Summer Haze in horseshoe bay is great too and self catering. fine accommodation too but a bit expensive. you can find more self catering in horseshoe bay

Thanks, much appreciated. Beachside Apartments did look a possible from the web searches. I'll look up both suggestions.

Make sure you get some snorkeling in while you're there, and if you're up to it it has some of the best scuba dives around!

Magnetic Island is definitely a good choice for your vacation, as the island really is an interesting place to visit. As for accommodations, the island itself has several hostels that you can stay in. also, you can check in the several places in nearby Townsville.

I have never heard about magnetic island, I did a little bit of research and it shows me that this is a good island for diving, is this correct?
