Antarctica is well worth visiting. It is expensive, but as johnny_mac pointed out, deals can be found. If you are willing to travel last minute, some operators sell spaces at good discounts at the last minute. They want to fill the spaces. The least expensive trips generally start around $3800 per person + airfare.

haha.. i like the first photo with the penguin.. it seems that the poor animal doesn't know his way home with the mountains of ice around him.. but, in reality this is not correct, the penguin is not lost because Antarctica itself is the penguin's home..
nice photos though.. i like also the northern lights.. beautiful..
