|
|
Hello, I'm taking my family to England in July and we will be renting a car to explore the south of England. We're only planning a 12 day trip so we won;t be able to see it all, so I appreciate any advice and suggestions on best areas of south of England?
Thank you! |

Where abouts where you thinking? The South is pretty large. Would you prefer the countryside, cities or both?
I would highly recommend Devon and Cornwall if your planning on going West, lots of little curious places and curious people!. Or Suffolk has some lovely little villages like Lavenham or seaside places like Southwold. Bournemouth is another great little seaside town. I could go on and on! |

The Cotswolds is my favourite part of southern England, I also like the Mendips.
Accommodation prices can be high in the Glastonbury area in June. I hear it costs £200 just to sleep in a tent. |

I would say Cornwall. St ives is a beautiful town, and has fantiastic beaches with golden sands. Not far is St Michaels Mount, have a look at

My recommendation is always Devon... there are some beautiful places to see. A lot does depend on your budget of course! If you want to stay somewhere nice in the heart of dartmoor and you have a good budget a night or two at Bovey Castle would be ideal... your kids would love it also as they do falconry displays and there is often an owl waiting for you on reception - but all this beauty comes at a price, but it is worth it in my opinion.
The great thing also about devon is that you have beautiful countryside and then you also have the beach! |
