Hello,
I was wondering if there was a decent web based service to plan your trip. A place to find out what sights are popular in a particular location with the ability to put them on a custom list and display on a map easily.
Let's say I want to visit London. I am thinking of a site displaying what is popular amongst tourists with the ability to use this easily to plan my own trip. Just to add places that I like on a custom list and then displaying all that on a map.
There are many websites offering good info, but it's hard work putting it all together.

Thank you for any advice

1. this is your site (you should really disclose this)

2. it doesn't do what the OP has specifically asked for

this is a site i am involved in, so i feel a bit guilty about mentioning it, but it does actually do what the OP asked.
london trip planner
you can go through the places and add them to your planner, and save the link or email it to someone, or whatever. it shows individual maps for each place, but it doesn't show a map for them all together though. that is one downside

There are many social network sites where you can find out this information. Check out trip advisor, virtual tourist, Yahoo Travel, Trip at Ini, AOL Travel, We go places, Lonely planet etc.

There are hundreds of travel directories. Famous Travel directories includes good sites for destination guide and travel blogs for destinations all over the world. So searching for good travel directories could be helpful.

Great thread guys... it's really useful to pull all the cheap travel websites together.

Trip Advisor is one of the best ones in my opinion, but I often use Expedia, Lonely Planet and Rough Guides. Using the airports' websites is another way to get plan a trip. I work with Luton Airport so I've used their site in the past to get some good deals and plan a route.

Maybe you have to visit www.tripadvisor.com. There is information about all the attractions and hotel reviews. For your flights and hotel accmmodation it is better to look online. There are plenty of websites with dscounted rates. For example I can recommend you www.hitrooms.com for hotes all over the world.

For booking of hotels i would suggest booking.com and hotels.com. For planning a trip Tripadvisor is the leader I think.
