I'm tagging along with my wife on a trip to London at the end of May. I'll be free during the day while she's in class. I've been to London before and seen the big sites. I'm looking for tips on hole in the wall restaurants (any cuisine will do), good places to see live local hip-hop, and the best places for unique views of the city as I'll be taking a ton of pictures. I'd like to capture the diverse ethnicity, strong colors, and interesting sub cultures like skateboarding and graffiti. And these are just examples, I'm very open to new experiences. Hopefully between now and May y'all will have some good tips. Right now I'm looking at a hotel in Kennsington, but that's not set in stone. Thank you in advance!

Sound like you're going to do the subculture thing well of the trodden path. Are you not at all interested in seeing any tourist attractions?

I am going to do the big sites, but I already know them pretty well and I'm going to take my wife on a tour of them. I need cool stuff to do while she's in class during the day.

Hey Wes, if you're spending a week in London it may be worth trying to find some vouchers for some of the attractions you're planning on going to.
When my mum and dad visited London earlier this year they bought a book called taketwo which has 2 for 1 vouchers for loads of things. They used them on the Thames Clipper a bus tour and London Bridge. So saved some pennies!

There are probably loads more similar vouchers online, might be worth taking a look. Just a thought!

Hope you have a nice trip!

Just be careful of parking there- it can get quite expensive!

No parking for me this time! Staying in the city, so I'll stick to the tube.

I always try to catch a west end show when i'm in london. I'm sure you could find something to see, normally something on for all tastes.

I've only been to a handful of plays and they are not really my thing. I would go if the wife was interested by I don't think she has much interest either. I can't imagine tickets are cheap either...

You can normally pick up a cheap ticket for a matinee from some of the box offices - but like you say not really some peoples thing.
