For a good hotel, I would expect a couple to be easily paying significantly upwards of £100 a night.
£300 for one person for a week doesn't strike me as expensive at all for a boutique hotel in an upmarket region. In fact, it sounds very cheap... you couldn't normally get a Premier Inn or Travelodge for a week in the UK at those rates!!
I stayed at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni on Lake Como a few years ago. Nowadays, their rates start from 240 euros per night for a single room, including breakfast (that's just over £200... per night, not per week). _________________ UK Hotels - UK Selfcatering - UK B&Bs - UK Attractions

| Certainly sounds like a good deal to me too. Campsites at Mecalsine were charging 175€ a week for campervans last year. |

Probably a bit late, but that sounds like a good price to me. We stayed in Malcesine too, in small and basic Self Catering Apartments and paid £1000 for 4 of us. It was almost peak season though.
Boutique hotels are lovely but not the cheapest of choices I'm afraid! |
