Well I would say the first thing to read would be "On the road" by Jack Kerowac or "Lonesome traveller" by the same author. Both classics in their own right,
Another one I would reccommend is electric kool aid acid test by Tom Wolfe. Not exactly a "travel book" but ties in nicely with On the Road,

A great book by a great author, and very funny.
He sent back a series of articles for a newspaper during the trip and then they were incorporated into a book. _________________ Lee's Travel Guide

Depends on what literature do you like in general. The last book I bought and read during my trip was this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/House-Spirits-Isabel-Allende/dp/0552995886/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258046083&sr=1-1 without to know whatever about the author but I have to say I read it without stopping for breath!!! The style is magical fantasy but also I recognize there some history and truth from the past. _________________ I thought I was watching a dream that I would never awaken from...

My favorite Travel books are:
The Great Railway Bazzar (Paul Theroux)
The Motorcycle Diaries (Che Guevara)
Jupiters Travels (Ted Simon)
Notes From a Small Island (Bill Bryson)
I'd recomend any of them. _________________ My Spanish Travel Site

| i would also vote for "on the road" by jack kerouac. a great book by a very cool bloke -- at least, he was, until i found out how he spent the second half of his life. he kind of built up this great image of the free and easy laidback type, jumping on a bike and heading off to wherever the wind blows, and then he decided to scrap all that, and go and live with his mum! |

This is a bit of an obscure suggestion, but I read The Magus by John Fowles on a trip and loved it. _________________ Kieran

Movie give relaxation and refreshment. I like watching movie. There are many type movie CDs available in market. I think the best road movie is comedy movies like heraphari, golmall and so on. Its give enjoyment.

| Reading a travel book at the moment "A long walk in the High Hills" by Selina Scott. This is all about when Selina was working with the BBC and bought a rural finca in the Mallorca mountains and about her life she built in Mallorca whilst still being a reporter. Great reading, especially if you are a fan of Mallorca. |
