Can anyone recommend a good city in Europe to spend new years eve? Alll suggestions welcome.

Well, I’d like to recommend visiting London which is one of the best cities in Europe. London New Year's Eve parties are probably the best in the World you can truly enjoy over there. I’d definitely recommend visiting there.

Hey, I think you would visit Paris and pass New Year Eve right under Effiel tower. It will be the most beautiful experience.

I spent new years eve in Prague a few years back, which was great fun - loads of people on the square firing off rockets in all directions (be ready to duck).
This was in about 2002/3 I think.
Amsterdam is great too - buy your own fireworks and enjoy one of holland's few national dishes - oliebollen - a sort of donut type thing only eaten at new years. Also great fun.
I've also spent it in Edinburgh - while fun, I found it a little too organised and restricted.

I imagine you can't go too far wrong with any major city in europe.

what about edinburgh. its a beautiful place at any time of year, but i think that new years (hogmanay) is supposed to be one of their biggest celebrations

I did think about spending it in Scotland as I have heard that the atmosphere is great! Is it best to plan your visit before you get there or just go along with the flow and make a plan when you get there?

Interestingly when I went to Hogmanay in Edinburgh, the scottish friends I was staying with went to Stonehaven... that might be saying something.

Oh, I would plan it - I think there's quite a bit of demand for the popular festivals so they sell tickets.

I will spend new years eve in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, as most recent years.
Great fiesta at the Church Square as in the main square in all Spanish towns.
