Has anyone ever traveled to Abu Dhabi?
We are staying there for 3 days in December. Is there anything worth seeing? Is there reasonable accommodation anywhere, we believe it is quite expensive. Have you any recommendations on what to see or where to stay, please?

The accomdation can be cheaper also as the hotels in UAE are not quite as full as they used to be.
You can do a desert safari in Abu DHabi or visit the tourist club area and hertiage area its worth seeing also if you have time visit Um Hassan fort also.

Hi Igrunseit
Hope you are still following this thread. I'm wondering if you are travelling through Abu Dhabi to a further destination or whether Abu Dhabi is your destination? Not that it matters so much, but you said you had heard it was expensive, and if you are worrying about the cost, maybe its not the best location for you?
Abu Dhabi can be very expensive especially if you want to stay in one of the Beach Hotels. Most of the beach hotels are close(some walking) to the city centre and although that means that the city centre hotels must be close to the beach, the problem is that there is no real public beach in Abu Dhabi. By real, I mean one where you would be comfortable or actually allowed to bathe in swimewear on.
Having said that the weather will be a little cooler in December, but the beach hotels do all have pools, most of which are chilled in the summer and warmed in the winter, so you should still be able to swim. Of course it depends where you are coming from. It feels cold in December when you have been there all year, but if you are coming from cooler climes then it might feel warm!
It is possible to get day memberships for the Hiltonia Beach Club at the Hilton International Hotel, so this could be a compromise if you feel like staying in the city. The other thing is to check what deals are on. Hotels Combined seems to be pretty effective at bringing back a good comparison of all the major travelshops... but remember to compare like for like. Beware of hidden extras and check that the prices compared are for the same standard of room.
One thing that you might want to do, is to a desert safari. Typically you are collected from your hotel around 4pm and whisked off for a dramatic drive over the dunes prior to a bbq under the stars. These tours are normally bookable at the reception desk of your hotel. Belly dancers are sometimes included in the tour, but it depends on numbers, so if you may want to check at the time of booking if one tour has more numbers than another.
Please post more information if you can, and I'll try to help more. _________________ Holiday in Abu Dhabi the Richest City in the World
