|
|
Hi.
I was thinking of taking my family (husband and 2 children) to London in September. Is it "affordable" to stay there? And can anyone recommend me a stay, if they've been to London before?
Cause I've been googling through the internet for a couple of days now and I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the offers.
Hope someone can help me.
Have a nice day!

I guess it depends on you budget really. Try the link below for discount hotels.

You may also want to consider staying on the outskirts of London which will be slightly cheaper. The surrounding countryside is but a short train ride from Central London and is a good base for exploring the city and famous attractions such as Windsor Castle.
Pub accommodation tends to be more affordable than hotels and provides a certain charm and character that is sometimes missing with the big hotel chains.
Try the Mad Hatter, which offers affordable accommodation and is centrally located:
020 7401 9222 (or visit the brewery that owns the pub: www.fullers.co.uk)
The Wellington is also worth a look and is near the London Eye and South Bank.
020 7928 6083
Also check this site out for hotels and pub accomm. in Chiswick.

Hope this helps. Good luck |

Wow, that's a pretty good price. I've paid a lot more just to fly over to Ireland. _________________ [Cheap car hire prices for all your destinations]{Blog} |

Hi I actually believe London can be very affordable and September is a particularly great time to go as you avoid school holidays but should still get nice weather.
The reason why it can be cheap in London is because so many of the famous London attractions are located within one small area. This means you can walk from place to place saving on the stress, money and environmental damage of transport. In addition many of the capital's best tourist spots are free. The major museums such as the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Tate Galleries, to name just a few, have free entry and numerous activities and amenities for kids. The South Bank has lovely river walks, a beach, picnic spots and even a city farm in nearby Vauxhall. All these are free and easy for families.
Also, many of the major tourist haunts have picnic areas saving on restaurant costs and it costs nothing to walk past famous locations such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster and Trafalgar Square. These are all amazing examples of our history, culture and heritage and cost nothing.
So I really do believe it is possible to travel cheap in London and I hope you have a lovely time. _________________ Sonia, Park Plaza Riverbank, http://www.parkplaza.com/hotels/gbriver/ |

London is expensive, budgeting will be hard and will limit your choice severely getting around is equally expensive, i would say not moer then a couple of days maybe a mini break as opposed to a week! _________________ Looking For Car Hire?

Certainly, London can be expensive just like any large European city. But don't let that put you off as it's a great place to visit - and well worth a few days plus...
There is affordable accommodation around: for instance youth hostels, some of which are improving in quality and offer family rooms with en suite facilities. (e.g. YHA Earl's Court). Also wortth considering student accommodation during vacations - with so many unis around the city and halls of residence thre's plenty of choice. _________________ Sam

It's like most major cities - good hotels, good food and the most popular attractions are expensive. But you can still have a great time on a budget. If you shop around, you can find a decent hotel at affordable prices, and there's lots to do that doesn't cost a thing - standing outside Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, all the great parks, the river, a lot of the museums are also free. _________________ http://www.womenrepublic.co.uk/ |

Don't just limit yourself to London. There are so many other (better?) places to visit in the UK. London is overpriced and overcrowded. If you are after shopping, try Manchester or even Leeds, for culture go to Edinburgh, for nature and a taste of different culture, try Wales.
The extra cost of travelling will be offset by the savings you make on accommodation. _________________ Yoga Holidays

London can be affordable for a family.
Ttravel on the trains and underground doesn't work out too bad with the travelcards etc..
Apart from that at lunchtime you can eat cheaply in the pubs even in the centre of the city.
A lot of interesting stuff is free. Teenagers will love Camden market for example and the Natural History museum / British museum are great ( just don't spend too long there).
Don't forget the london eye - its not cheap but the views are great. Try and time your visit to coincide with sunset. _________________ Medieval Spanish History, Legends and Travel Information |
