Can anyone tell me where I might find the best cruise deal and what I should expect on my first cruise. Things I should look out for or be aware of? This is my first cruise planning and though I am a bit nervous I want to make the best of it. _________________ globalresortsnetwork.com/timeshare

Cruising is becoming such a huge business with more ships being built each year offering tremendous facilities. Finding the right cruise is more difficult but it shouldn't be regarded as an unpleasant task!
You should decide what are the most inmportant criteria - is it the destination, activities onboard, the food/gourmet experience, cruising from the UK (no fly), formal or informal? If you are looking for something mainstream with a good balance of the above then I would suggest you try Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, or Princess Cruises. For real luxury try Cunard, Celebrity, Silverseas, Regent Seven Seas. Then, try and find an itinerary which is going to visit places you want to see - cruising is a great way to see a few different destinations and will often give you a taste of somewhere that you like and want to re-visit for a longer stay later on. Baltic cruises are particularly good for seeing many cities in Scandinavia and places such as Tallinn, Helsinki, Gdansk, St Petersburg etc without the expense of booking hotels and eating out in these places.
There are many other cruise lines for you to consider with one or two specialising in Alaska and the Arctic, and a company called Hurtigruten who combine the cruise experience with working boats along the Norwegian coast.
In short, there are so many aspects to cruising but you need to make sure you get the right advice for your own requirements. _________________ Holidays to Mexico - Nile Cruises - York Travel Agency |

I was thinking the same thing -- what type of Cruise to go on for 1st Timers, would the 3-day cruise be better than the 7-day cruise as a Starter, since you have to add a day (for travel) before and after to be at the Port City to board the OceanLiner on time... I guess basically I'm looking forward to see how it feels to be "grounded in one place" for several days, eating meals on time, swim and sunbathe, dancing, gambling, dressing up to sit at the Captain's Table, etc. Btw I saw on the news that it was the TV show Love Boat that made Cruises such a Popular Venue it is today...
what I'm Curious about Cruises is this -- what makes you go back for another trip??

Taster cruises (usually 3 or 4 nights duration) are an excellent way of trying out the cruise experience. There are some excellent ones to the Bahamas from Florida and also Northern Europe from the UK. The cruise operators are keen to do more of these as they are a perfect way to attract the new customers they need to fill the ever increasing ships they are launching.
As regards why people go back, the high quality of the accommodation, service and superb cuisine are just some of the reasons people go back. As a travel agent I can confirm that cruising has the highest level of repeat business in the trade which tells its own story! _________________ Holidays to Mexico - Nile Cruises - York Travel Agency |

As a travel agent I can confirm that cruising has the highest level of repeat business |
this brings to mind what I watched on Discovery Channel -- they were showing how each Cabin came "assembled in Modular Format" and then FlatBed-Delivered within 24 hours to CruiseShip...well what happened in this Episode was that this Danish Project Engineer found this modular cabin ceiling corner to be 1mm off, they became stressed and flustered etc. Very "interesting & informative" 1-hour video watching how these Modular Units like cabins, bathrooms, etc. were assembled... they even showed the busiest Sub-Floor where the Kitchen & Staff were working to produce thousands of meals a day -- as I remember it they called the Full-Length Corridor as Route 9, named after the "busiest thoroughfare in DC Metro USA"
OMG I thought Travel Agents are an Endangered Species and Extinct -- from what I remembered from the late 90's when Airlines eliminated the 50USD Fee to all travel agents, to encourage Customers to deal directly with their customer service personnel..... I am glad you Folks are still around to arrange Tours, Cruises...

Hi,
I got back from a cruise on Saturday around the Greek Islands with Royal Carribean Ship 'Splendour of the Seas'.
The cruise was fantastic in terms of things to do on the ship; a theatre, climbing wall, two pools, countless bars, two restaurants etc etc but in terms of the ports that we stopped at I enjoyed only 3 out of Mykonos, Katakolon, Athens, Corfu and Split.
If you are interested only in the time on the ship itself don't worry about the ports that you will visit but I would warn you that all the ports the ship stops at are really expensive, overly touristy and you do not get enough time there to get a real feel for the place. I think this is something you should consider when doing your research. |

Before we planning our first cruise we searching every where on the internet and try to get as much as possible information but also special visual information because we like to know how this ships realy looks. With all this in mind I decide after the cruise to make a special website with all the cruise lines and they ships including pictures and flash movies and many more to make it easyer to make a decission the site is still not complete finish because I still have to add many ships but if you need to see more about cruises your welcome to visit and hope it will help you. _________________ If the ship goes where you want to go when you want to go, then go.

Before going on our first Baltic cruise, we spent much time studying Cruise critic forum. It helped us a lot and we even found tour companions for our private tours in Talinn and St.Petersburg. _________________ My private tour of St.Petersburg |

Even if Cruisecritic is a little spammy and full of fake recommendations: I mostly work doing shore excursions from the port of Civitavecchia, and I guess you can find about me only few but TRUE recommendations. I mean if you want to surf on it you are free to do it, but don't take all the recos like if it was gold... _________________ A Rome private tour guide to visit the Trevi Fountain,Vatican Museums or the Colosseum |

First time travelers have have great experience on the cruise, but they should select the balcony view to make most out of the cruise. It is really great to take a breakfast while sitting in balcony viewing the ocean. _________________ europe cruises |

| As this will eb your first I highly recommend that you read the cruise reviews first at http://www.Cruise.co.uk and to get the best cruise price it is usually best to get a quote from a few different agents as this way you can haggle a little bit. |
