Has anybody used Airparks Luton for airport parking?

I am looking to do some research into this topic and wanted to compile some reviews regarding the company and their services.

Please post any comments relating to Airparks at Luton airport.

Many Thanks

We had a very bad experience with Airparks Luton in May 2009. Returned from holiday to find front near side tyre flat in the Airparks carpark. We hoped that it was a slow puncture, and their staff used a large device to try to reinflate it, but this did nothing at all (which suggested a major puncture, though the staff would not have this). We then had difficulty removing the tyre (due to damaged anti theft lock, which was damaged by Kwik-Fit, not Airparks fault) so had to get a breakdown vehicle to come out to the Airparks car park. The car had not been moved at all at this point. But then when the recovery driver was loading the car onto the back of the recovery vehicle we discovered a major rupture to the tyre (see photos below) and damage to the alloy. At this point we should have returned to the Airparks Customer service hut again, but instead we just took the photos and left the Airparks site. We could not get the tyre off at the recovery centre, so in the end had to be towed from Luton to Cambridgeshire, at considerable expense. The anti theft lock issue, and the resulting tow was not Airparks fault, but the ruptured tyre definitely was. When we complained by letter, it was suggested that we had done the damage before the holiday. But the car had been moved by Airparks staff on at least two occasions (after we dropped it off, and when it was moved to their short term car park before our return). On our collection ticket the driver had noted that the car was 'OK'. We wrote twice, asking to be reimbursed for the replacement tyre (80 pounds). They refused to accept any responsibility, and said we should claim on our insurance.

Premier Travel booked our parking with Airparks Luton, and admittedly they are cheap. But next time we will pay extra for a proper service from a competent organisation.

We supply parking at Luton, using Airparks and have not received any complaints for this particular supplier.

Andrewm - It sounds like you have had a particulalry bad experience here, and sorry that you have not seemingly resolved to your satisfaction, my advice would be to keep on to them and you might get somewhere. Copy the agent you used to secure the booking to try and exert some more pressure.

Good luck with the report.

Hi there,

I work with London Luton Airport and have read all your comments on here. London Luton Airport notes the serious questions raised over services offered by offsite car parking and car hire companies at airports within the UK

London Luton Airport would advise passengers to exercise caution when booking any of these services and that only those companies listed on London Luton Airport’s official website are the recommended and regulated service providers of car parking and hire services to the Airport.

To be sure that you are parking with our trusted car parking companies, I would recommend checking out the information here: http://www.london-luton.co.uk/en/content/7/207/car-park-information.html on all the official comapnies that operate from London Luton Airport.

Our official hire car companies are also listed on our website too.

Hope this is helpful.

Interesting comments from Luton Airport who seem to have a monopoly on parking at Luton Airport.

I not sure of the use of the word ‘official’, in the case of car parking there’s a number of well established car park operators providing good customer service and competitively priced. Both Central Car Storage and Airparks in my opion have a better understanding of the customer needs than Luton Airport who don’t even manage their own car parks.

Surly it’s not in the consumers interest for airports to have control over the only means of parking ON the airport. With parking being the main means of income for many airports the lack of choice is unhealthy and does not benefit the customer.

Opening statement from the Competition Commission…
The Competition Commission (CC) is an independent public body which conducts in-depth inquiries into mergers, markets and the regulation of the major regulated industries, ensuring healthy competition between companies in the UK for the benefit of companies, customers and the economy.

Maybe someone should take a closer look.

Hi guys,

not sure whether Luton Airparks is a good service provider but there's definitely a number of other good airport parkings operators. I usually book my airport parking from APH in advance. Though I've never booked a parking particularly in Luton, usually it's Gatwick in London, I'm sure you'll be able to find a great Luton airport parking service by comparing prices from several providers at APH or Holiday Extras' websites as they make it a very simple process.

cheers

The convenience of Luton Airport Parking is essential to consider when choosing this airport as your mode of travel. Although Luton by bus is approximately just over one hour away from London Victoria Buckingham Palace Road and well frequented, with buses arriving and departing 24/7 every 15-30 minutes every single day apart from Christmas Day, you are probably reading this because you plan to use Luton airport parking. You may even work at Luton Airport or need to fetch or drop someone off there.

Luton airport parking is a popular airport, not far from London central. It is serviced with frequent buses which come and go every fifteen to thirty minutes and are there every single day throughout the year apart from Christmas Day! There is no train station at Luton Airport but there are chauffeur services available as well.

Some Luton Airport Parking sites have a digital car license number recognition system and the website cautions that you enter your number plate details correctly and carefully on arrival at the barrier before your ticket is issued. That ticket must be kept in a safe place as it will be needed to raise that same barrier when collecting your car after your trip.

The official on site parking system uses fully-automated number plate recognition. On arrival you will be asked to enter your car registration. If you have booked on-line, it is recommended that you take your confirmation of booking along with you. A ticket will then be automatically issued, which you need to keep when you collect your car in order to raise the barrier to get to the airport parking.

Short-term parking is a walk away from Luton Airport Terminal. Long-term parking provides a free shuttle coach which takes ten minutes to reach the Airport Terminal. This shuttle leaves the long-term parking area every fifteen minutes or so. There is also a midterm parking service option available and this shuttle takes only five minutes to reach the Airport Terminal, leaving the car park every ten minutes.

The regulations at Luton Airport mean that you are not permitted to wait for longer than ten minutes within the Priority Set Down Zone. If you need to collect or drop off visitors without any hassles, you can also book this option on line under the Fly and Meet category. This means you will be met by professionally trained staff who will assist with luggage, flight details and anything else you may need assistance with.

When parking at Luton airport if you look around you can expect to find some real competitive prices, with sites which explain things like detailed car park locations, security, bus and chauffeur transfers and also offers car park facilities from the top five UK providers. They can also organize hotel stop overs with parking. As part of a parking package you can also get the use of the priority parking area where after arrival at the Airport Terminal you will be able to park in one of the dedicated Valet Arrival parking bays and be collected by professional valet staff.
