I just arrived from Australia and was wonder what the cheapest way to call home from the UK is. Are there calling cards that you can get or is it cheaper to go to a special travellers place where they have phones. Thanks,

You can get calling cards from most news agents but I prefer to use direct access numbers which a number of companies do.
I call Australia and pay the same price as a national call (about 8p per minute)as its an access number, you can try it:
I also use it to call my mates in New Zealand and the US.
You can also get special deals with BT if you have your own phone line but I find this way to be the least hassle as you dont have cards, contracts etc.

Thank you to the board member that brought these two posts to my attention.
It appears our friend "Sophie" asked a seemingly innocent question. 10 minutes later a reply was posted by "Jon" yet the username is identical. It is clear to me that this is a little more than a thinly veiled attempt at spam, which we don't/won't tolerate.
The individual concerned is now banned, and this thread locked.
