I think you can also have a very luxurious stay in India. Just because it is very cheap it doesn't have to say it is not luxurious. I have never been there, but it is for sure on my wish list.

Hey

are you looking for luxury accommodation in India or luxury travel to India?

I don't know much about the former, but for the latter, luxury travel, id recommend checking out <name removed>, who provide chartered flights.

I know a few luxuriant hotels in India but the one that I would go back to is without a doubt the Kumarakom Lake Resort in Kerala! You have a unique confort because of separate villas, each one with its own garden. All villas have the ancient Indian feeling but with the highest technologies possible such as wireless internet (I know that I can't go somewhere for two weeks without checking my mails)!
The hotel has a Spa too, proposing massages, ayurveda, yoga and several other threatments.

The only way to go safely in India is Luxury Hotels in India. And they have them in all major cities. Be careful everywhere else on the water and vegies. Many Yoga Ashrams are good too that cater to Americans. Many times they include the food and it is a great spiritual week.

This is definitely on my top 10. The Maharajas Express is back and people are flocking to it. Can you think of a more perfect way to experience classic travel luxury. This journey will take you back to a time when travel had a certain air about it. Back to when people dressed up to take a flight. I love the idea of this.

The only thing I would struggle with is the fact that I've sitting in the lap of luxury and there is crippling poverty all around me. When does luxury travel become socially irresponsible tourism? But I think that's a topic for another post...

I travel to India quite frequently on business. Would have stayed at every possible luxury hotel in Delhi & Bangalore.. But now I only stay at the Starwood Luxury Collection properties..One of their new properties called ITC Royal Gardenia is an absolutely refreshing examples of great hospitality. It's luxurious yet not over the top. The hotel is extremely conscious about the environment and they really walk this green talk..

India is one of the world’s great civilizations and perhaps its greatest travel destination. An array of cultures and religions have coexisted for ages, each expressing its traditions in magnificent artistic and architectural achievements. Evidence of a sophisticated Indus Valley culture, including streets, irrigation and public works in Punjab and Rajasthan, place India alongside Babylonia as one of the first centers of modern civilization. It is the birthplace of both Hinduism and Buddhism, and a long and continuous tradition of achievement in physics, mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, and poetry testifies to India’s role as a fertile intellectual epicenter for more than 3,000 years.

The prospect of building a custom journey from scratch around your interests is a thrilling one, but where to begin? We’ve distilled a massive amount of information into this organized format to get you started. Use our Essential India section as a starting point, then delve into the other sections as your interests dictate.
