| I plan to go to Hong Kong and Southern China later in the year. I am told that doctors who travel usually take antibiotic with them just in case they get travellers diarrhoea. The is website <attempted spam removed> has some info about this and looks like a good place to buy. I wonder what people's experience is and what they think of the website. All the best Tony |

Lol, just to make this slightly useful anyway. Yes take or get something for it, you probably will need it. Some bugs are resistant to some drugs, it is worth checking out that info so you don't buy something that will probably not be effective in your destination. Your local travel doctor before you go or a pharmacy in your destination will be far better than buying online. _________________ Voyagner.com | 7% World Nomads Discount | WiredNomad.net |

Yikesss.... just to give some advice anyway. It is more wise to bring medicines with you when you are traveling which I think is very basic and it has been taught when we were boy scout and girls scout in elementary. If you are traveling in Hongkong it's not hard to buy medicines because people speak english if not all at least they can understand you but since you are heading some part of China then bring some first aid kit with you because it's so hard to find an English speaker in China. _________________ Immigration - Employment Green card - Immigration INS |

I'd say no. "Travellers diarreah" is generaly just a reaction to the local bugs which your body isn't acustomed to. By taking wide spectrum antibiotics all you end up doing is destroying whatever resistance you had. Just be carefull with what you eat at first and you'll slowly build up a resistance.
If on the other hand you get something more serious then of course you'll need to take medicine to treat it , but specific to what you are suffering. All of which can be bought in Hong Kong. Also don't forget traditional chineese medicine , if you can find someone who speaks english or a translator I've seen spectacular results with traditional chineese remedies. _________________ Medieval Spanish History, Legends and Travel Information |
