In addition to my many questions about California and Nevada, I have a couple about New York. We have 3-4 days here, and will be visiting Central Park, The Statue Of Liberty, Empire State Building and the New York public library (we have a librarian in our group, so this is a must-see for her). Anything else you would recommend? How about places to eat or Tv-shows to be in the auidence perhaps? We're also all music-lovers that love hard rock and metal, so any places we should look out for here? Personally I'm a big Seinfeld fan, but he doesn't do shows anymore, does he? Any place to visit that was used in the show? Any help will be appreciated.

If you look at the New York City Guide in my signature, you will get some of the information you are looking for.

For views of New York the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center) is, in my opinion, better than going up to the top of the Empire State Building, but I would recommend both if you have a clear day.

Times Square has lots of places like Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, etc., if you are interested in them. There are lots better places to eat than those places, but if you collect their souvenirs then that is where they are. They used to be up near Central Park but they all moved down to Times Square.

Times Square also has a New York Information Center where you can get some good info, and the TKTS outlet where you can get some half-price tickets for that day's Broadway (and off Broadway) shows.

There are the Hershey and M&M stores in Times Square and a good deli called the Roxy Delicatessen.

Are you interested in expensive fine dining or reasonably priced good food, or both?

Very cool... we'll definitely be checking out Times Square, and I'll have a look at your links later. As to eating, we're all more interested in reasonaly prized good food, and we're not that interested in stuff like Hard Rock. We're a bunch of very relaxed people, and we have a vegetarian among us... as I've heard it, USA is a far better place to eat than Denmark when it comes to that.

There are lots of choices for vegetarians in New York. (Probably half of the people who live there are or call themselves vegetarians.)

Most restaurants will probably have some vegetarian options and there are lots of places that cater specifically to vegetarians. I currently do not have any information about these places, but I know they are there.

Do you have a preference for a particular cuisine -- French, Italian... ?

Well, not really. I'd probably wanna try a kebab if New York serves them... kinda a thing I do in all countries I travel to. Other than that, we'd probably go for a little of everything during our visit. Isn't New York known for it's sandwiches as well? Any top notch places to go for those? And since sushi is as cheap as it is in the states, I'm fairly certain we'll go for that as well. Other than that, we'll try whatever we're in the mood for at the time.

I do not have information about kebabs or sushi, but the deli I mentioned, the Roxy Delicatessen in Times Square, is one of the best places I have been for sandwiches.

There are some places called 'wichcraft scattered around that make good sandwiches. And most delis that I have tried are good as well.
The park behind the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, has some 'wichcraft shops. The library is at 5th Avenue and 42nd Street; the 'wichcraft shops are on the 6th Avenue side of the park. They also have ice cream and other stuff.

(Chef Tom Colicchio, head judge on the Top Chef show, has a restaurant in NY called Craft. They opened some sandwich shops and called them 'wichcraft. The 'wich part of course is short for sandwich.)

Nobody mentioned this but you can still go visit the neon pink diner on 44th or whatever street that is, the restaurant they always used in Seinfeld.

The other spots you mentioned are famous but idk what you are going to do in central park besides have a picnic. Honestly New York is overrated for short visits, I think you can't really see NYC by seeing a few tourist spots.

Overall I'm not into the city much cuz everyone is a rude jerk and they think its cool.

Hehe, well... the tourist spots and the music will be enough for us... but thanks a lot for the info on the diner... we'll definitely check that one out.

I think most parks in New York are also a memorable sights. Plenty of people to see and I usually like when they bring their dogs for a walk. It's like a pet show.

I remember there being a very cool art deco champagne and oyster bar downstairs in grand central station. It's a bit expensive but the experience is worth it

It is still there.
Oyster Bar & Restaurant

There are also several other places to eat as well as several shops which you can check out at the Grand Central Terminal website.

Point of interest:
The train station is called Grand Central Terminal
Grand Central Station is the subway stop at Grand Central Terminal.
