New Orleans is truly a fascinating place to visit. It is very enjoyable. I wonder if anyone has a suggestion for some little known spots that get overlooked.
I've got an article on "How to See New Orleans" on e-how. It tells the places that are really worth seeing.
I'm still wondering, though, if there is something that may have been overlooked.
A couple of things I didn't mention in the article is that the Children's Museum is okay for local residents, but it is disappointing if you're there as a visitor to the city. Also, the Audubon Institute's Insectarium is good, but it is very overpriced. It could have been so much better. It is not a waste of time, but it's not on my list of top sites to see.
A lot of people think that since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is dead. That is a dead wrong idea. It is getting back to where it was before.
If you know New Orleans, please let me and everyone else know if you have any suggestions of places that are not normally spotlighted in New Orleans.

The People in New Orleans are wonderful! The French Quarter is a must see! Of course its not all for kids. But be sure to take lots of pictures!! There is a Ripley's Believe it Or Not in the French Quarter. And usually by the riverside there are musicians which are great sometimes. Be sure to get a lot of cheap Mardi Gras stuff for the kids. Masks, beads they have all kinds of things for kids just for fun! Tons of stores but mostly junk. Very touristy stores stay away from them. lol _________________ Quick Hotel Booking | Online Hotel Reservations | 5 Star Hotels |

The airboat rides would not actually be in New Orleans, since those are mostly for the marshes. The area around Houma near New Orleans would be the place to look for something like that. There are also several good boat tours in several areas near New Orleans, but they are not airboats. They would go along scenic bayous or rivers and you would be able to see a lot of birds and perhaps even some alligators.
There are plenty of great places to see in South Louisiana. If you're coming from another country, especially, you might want to consider seeing such places as Avery Island, Jefferson Island, and some of the Antebellum homes also. You might also want to see Baton Rouge and the capitol. Lafayette is also interesting, with its Vermillionville. |
