I am also interested in Kilimanjaro and would love to climb it. I did this article on Mount Kilimanjaro about a week ago to delve into the subject a bit. Hope you find it interesting. _________________ Landia Davies

I've gotta say that playing games and dancing with barefoot children in rural Ghana is right at the top of my list.
Give it a try! _________________ jenna

I have to jump in here! In no particular order...
Route 62 in the Western Cape, South Africa. Wide open spaces, deserted roads, friendly people.
Natures Valley on the Garden Route. Deserted kms of beach, tranquil lagoon.... )
Mana Pools, Zimbabwe _________________ See Cape Town from an Insider's perspective!

there are so many places in africa i love. but three come to mind:
1. Cape Town: You really can't beat this city in terms of fun and beauty. I have been to most of the world's big cities and I can tell you that Cape Town is really something special. I lived there for a while and I used to love surfing, going out to top-notch clubs, eating great food, hiking on Table Mountain, Devil's peak, 12 Apostles, etc. Just relaxing at La Med by Clifton's beach on a Sunday afternoon, or having sushi at Tank, walking around down town, or going to a rugby game in newlands are all so much fun as well. And the list goes on and on. The bottom line is that you can spend 6 months in Cape Town and not get enough of it. It really is a world-class city.
2. I love the Wild Coast in South Africa. It's so tranquil, relaxing, and beautiful. Just sitting out on the rolling hills overlooking the Indian Ocean at Coffee bay is a memorable experience. This is the heart of the old Transkei and most of the locals still live in hut dwellings. Nearby is a cave where the ANC used to hide munitions, which is interesting to see.
3. Maputo, Mozambique is a lot of fun. The atmosphere is lively, the local jazz is amazing, and if you are there you simply must go to one of the many places that offers a fresh seafood braii. Oh yeah, and have some fresh cashews - they are delicious. _________________ Lark Tours

South Africa is great there is so much to do and see but is becoming very violent. Botswana is wonderful, especially the game viewing in the Okavango Swamps, the people are very friendly and there is little crime to worry about (although they have a terrible HIV/AIDS problem). Namibia is amazing, desert, wild, coast beaches, wonderful game viewing at Etosha, Lesotho is very mountainous and can be a bit chilly this time of year and Swaziland is very similar to South Africa. My favourite place is Cape Town and I would really recommend you go there and drive around the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth calling in at Oudtshoorn to see the Cango Caves (like the Wookie Hole and Cheddar Gorge, only bigger) and Ostrich farming. |

Lebala (Kwando concession in Botswana): excellent gameviewing in one of the more productive areas in Botswana. Should be excellent for cheetah, wild dog, elephant, buffalo and lion. Good variety of birds around (wetland and dry land species). Some superb guides are based there: Charles Sebaka and Spencer.
Duba Plains (Botswana): best place in Africa to see lions hunting buffalo. James is one of the most dedicated guides I've ever met and he's really into it.
Palmwag rhino camp (Damaraland - Namibia): tracking black rhino on foot ... not everyone's cup of tea but definitely mine. Chris Bakkes is the man you are looking for.
Skeleton coast (Namibia): isolated - wild - fascinating landscapes which you have never seen anywhere else. A safari like you have never experienced.
Cabo Verde: island (very diverse) hopping - fascinating walks - great seafood - good music and very friendly people. |

Although this place is located in the off coast of south Africa, I think Mauritius is my choice of the best place in Africa. _________________ A list of the best Mauritius Hotels |

Climbing mount Kilimanjaro has defiantly been one of my highlights since being in Africa. I think it was a mixture of accomplishment and the views and scenery I could see that made this so. _________________ The Zanzibari is a boutique beach Zanzibar hotel located in the village of Nungwi.
For private and custom Kenya safaris around National Parks such as Lake Nakuru choose Ziara for that personal touch. |

Peru is one of my favorite places in Africa and third biggest country of South America. I like its historical places, culture, restaurants and beaches. When you visit to Peru I m sure you want to visit again. Moreover the top places for destination in Peru are Arequipa Colca Valley, Chiclayo, Lima, Nazca Lines, Paracas, Puno and Lake Tiicaca and Trujillo. _________________ All happiness depends on a leisurely Romantic bed and Breakfasts |
