Yup mainly southern Utah. It's a backpackers dream. Only a 2hr drive from Las Vegas, you can be off the plane and in the middle of mountainous red rock in a matter of 3 hours. Among the many spectacles are: Zion’s National Park, Snows Canyon, The Grand Staircase, Moab, Lake Powell, and vast stretches of BLM land to play on. I’m new to this forum; however if your intrested in some good spots in southern Utah let me know.

Utah in spring and summer is an excellent place to be.

Hiking, canoeing, climbing and camping are all the kind of activities I find Utah to be perfect for. August can be a bit too hot but otherwise it is great. Utah is my favourite U.S. state.

Utah is a great place for photography loads of very quiet and uncrowded spots. Find a canyon out in the desert areas with spooky looking Hoodoos the weathered rock formations. The more popular places like Bryce and Zion Canyons are well worth your time, more people but still special. Cool

hiking + camping = UTAH.. hmmm december would be really cold and its worst during the night whilst camping. brrr... you sure should wish to befriend with your vehicle's heater (if you have) but the trails are surely best for hiking. and i dunno if you would enjoy the desert view

Yes, get out into the canyons and desert areas. Zion Canyon is a great place any time of year, go to Bryce Canon very early and try and see a sunrise if you do you will always remember it. Cool

I'll second that, Zion NP and Bryce Canyon are both spectacular. Also don't forget to look in the trees and cliffs - peregrine falcons.
