|
|
We are a couple from Spain and we are planning a trip to the U.S. in early September 2010, we would like to stay there for 3-6 months, the idea is to find a job to pay the room, improve our English, increase our experience and learn more about American culture.
The best option would be to find a job related to our professions (my girlfriend is computer technical engineer with three years experience as a computer programmer and I have a degree in PR and advertising and experience of three years as public relations in a hotel, events management and personal assistant), if this option is not possible because it is hard to find a qualified job, we would settle for less-skilled positions that just help us to support our stay.
Our doubts are:
1 .- What is the best way to find a job from Spain? Are there real options to get a job of this kind? if not, how can we get a job less qualified?
2 .- What is the best area of the United States to carry out this kind of trip? Where is easier to find a job for both?
3 .- Are there agencies that can help us organize this kind of trip finding employment and housing? if so, is it worthwhile or is too expensive?
As you can see we have a thousand questions and we just know one thing, we really want to do this trip, so any experience of people who have done the same, comments, ideas and tips that you can tell us will be more than welcome.
Regards for everyone, thank you for your help. |

Before planning too far ahead, you should look at the requirements to secure a work visa. You cannot legally be employed under a tourist visa, and typically, you need a job offer before you can get a work visa. _________________ My flight map. I don't know how to go about getting a job in the US from Spain.
I'm just saying that to do what you'd like legally is going to take some planning. You could go and work without the visa, but if you are caught, you will be deported and I think barred from entering the US for a period of time. _________________ My flight map. you have to apply a very specific visa for that. US immigration is very strict and specific on this, the easier way of doing it IMO is having a sponsor or an employer( if you are doing it by yourself). or find an agency from your place(spain) It is usually expensive as this is delicate and undergo heaps of processes _________________ RV hire USA |

Hmmm, I think getting a job and work visa for a stay of 3 to 6 months would be pretty tough, unless you want to get a crappy service job in the summer, such as at an amusement park. They pay very badly though and you'll work long hours. It would probably be better to just save all the money you need to stay there without working, or start an online business that would enable you to make some money while you are over there. The best city to go to practice English is somewhere where there won't be too many other foreigners. My Japanese friends that speak the best English went places where there were no other Japanese people. _________________ miami hotel deals |

I would try living in San Francisco.
You don't need a car, they have the best public transportation in the U.S.
The people are very friendly and helpful. There are many software and computer companies her.
I would contact Span consulate in San Francisco for help.or the Spain Embassy , United States

Have you been to New Mexico??? Nice place to visit but I'm not sure I would want to live there. One of the poorest states in USA.
It is very difficult to get a work VISA especially in this economic situation, companies generally cannot hire a non rtesident unless they can show they cannot hire someone from USA. |

I am not visa expert but if you want an advise on trip destination then i can recommend you Austin, Texas. The wonderful city for wonderful people having lot of opportunity for tourists warmly welcome them. you can have lot of fun and activities there but as far as your job is concern i can't advise you on this issue, you should consult some expert. _________________ Fun things to do in Austin |

| I work for a company that's based in Spain. They have expanded into the US and especially here in Florida. The comany name is Areas. Maybe you can do some reasearch and see if you can get hired on and then relocate to Florida. Just a thought. Good Luck! |
