Newsflash! Petty crime happens everywhere. It happens in Prague. It happens in London. It happens in Delhi. It happens in Toronto. It happens in Rio. It happens in Madrid. It happens in Tokyo. It happens in Manila. It happens in Sydney.

The best protection is to practice common sense, be aware of your surroundings, and be careful with your personal possessions.

Hi, there are pick pockets in every European city, I believe the worst place is Barcelona, I lived there for a few years and everyone that came to visit had a story to tell.

I was in Prague a few weeks ago and absolutely love it and indeed - it is very cheap. If you though walk one or two streets away from where you see the hourdes of tourists, you will then see prices of food and drinks get cheaper. Walk for 5 mins away from the main areas and its real cheap.

I don't have personal experience with "pickpockets in Prague" but got more details from Google. We need to take care of our bags while driving.

pickpockets are almost in every bigger city. Prague is known for expensive taxis (or better say that taxis are sometimes more expensive for visitors than for Czech people) and of course you have to be careful of your things.

I had heard that Prague was cheap and thus I was very surprised a few weeks ago when i was there because it wasn't cheap. It is cheaper than London but if you are looking for a cheap holiday then Prague is no longer maybe the place to go. Budapest I found to be much cheaper and better for a budget holiday.

I lived in Prague for about five weeks last year. Granted, that's not much time, but it's enough for me to have had to get a pretty good handle on the prices.

Food is typically cheaper than UK and US prices, especially for beer/alcoholic beverages, but not by a lot. On average I'd say food is 70% of what it costs in the US. A beer in a bar, on the other hand, is one third to one half the price.
