Zanzibar - I went there for two weeks without the usual Safari bit on the mainland. A truly fantastic trip
Highlights
+Amaaaaazing beaches
+Great diving (the marine park off Nungwi is beautiful and full of friendly turtles)
+Coffee House in Stone Town (good for a drink, better if you stay the night - cheap too)
Lowlights
-Hmmm... low tide (big reefs = no water for a small part of the day)
-Some things are expensive (but the seafood isn't)
-Bribes to the baggage handler at the airport
I've put together some photo highlights on my blog .

Yeah.... I also don't get why you had to bribe.... or do you mean tipping? Coz tipping is your choice.... _________________ Budget Travel Offers in Kenya

Zanzibar is fantastic and the beaches are simply stunning.
Agree about the tides, but it does look so beautiful when it goes out.
Where did you have the bribe problem? Because I encountered a strange thing at the airport when checking in at Zanzibar airport on the way home. The check in guy said he was studying travel and need to get $200 for books and would be like to contribute? He said he could waive the deaprture tax...... em!
Anyway, I love Zanzibar and have been twice now but would love to go back!

On your lows did you not experience the electricity black out the island had for the last 4 months? _________________ "learn more, be more"

The baggage handlers pick up the bags from the Zanzibar airport if you let them. So you know for next time – you can just grab your own bag and therefore they wont expect a tip. _________________ The Zanzibari is a boutique beach Zanzibar hotel located in the village of Nungwi.
For private and custom Kenya safaris around National Parks such as Lake Nakuru choose Ziara for that personal touch. |
