The tradition of Chinese Spring Festival also known as lunar New Year varies slightly in North China and South China. Of course, the best way is to stay in a local family in the rural area, where some old tradition such as sacrificing ceremonies are well preserved. But it is not a easy job to find a satisfactory host family for in rural area language will be a big barrier. Another choice is to go to some old towns in east China, such as Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen, and Tongli, etc. They are very traditional. In Wuzhen, you may have a look at the age-old, elaborately-made wood beds, which prevailed in Qing Dynasty. The beds are called Qian Gong Chuang, which means thousands of craftsmen worked to make such a bed. It is really beautiful and rare.
In addition, Shaoxing, the home town of Lu Xun, is also a good choice. Have you heard of him? He is a great literary giant in modern China. He is respected by Chinese people due to the acute thought revealed in his satirical writings, the braveness shown in his continuous fighting with the dark forces, and his strong patriotism. He has written many novels, in which the sacrificing ceremony of Spring Festival of Shaoxing local color is vividly depicted. In his former residence, a key tourist attraction of Shaoxing, the sacrificing ceremony of Spring Festival is held annually. It is worth visiting. _________________ We serve to make travel easy.

I think your best bet for a traditional Chinese new year festival is travelling to the rural areas. |

If you are a new be here. Xian, Beijing and Shanghai are the place that you will never miss. For the three cites represent the historical development of the whole China. Xi'an is dated back to 5,000 years ago which is the root of Chinese civilization. Beijing is the capital of China which also witnessed the destroyed of the final feudal empire. Shanghai epitomizes stylish, modern and passion that represent the latest trend of China.
Hope you will have a nice day here.... _________________ http://www.startravelchina.com |

| For the first time visiting,i suggest to try the classic travel route in China as Beijing,Xi'an,Guilin,Shanghai,Hongkong. 3- day is enough to see the main attractions in Beijing,2days in Xi'an,3days in Guilin and 3days in Shanghai,2days in Hongkong. |

| The Chinese New Year celebrations will start on February 6, which is the eve of the Lunar Year in 2008. In China, most workers (except those in the service sectors: transportation, hotel, restaurants, etc.) will have 2 weeks off. The New Year starts with the New Moon and ends on the full moon 15 days later which is the Lantern Festival (not to be confused with the mid-autumn festival which is also called the Lantern festival in some parts of the Chinese world outside of China. i.e. Singapore, Malaysia, etc.). |

I would recommend Beijing and Xi'an, Shandong. _________________ http://www.chinahotels.hk/ |

In the first hour of a Chinese New Year, nearly all the Chinese cities become a battlefield. If you are a foreign traveler and know nothing about the tradition of the Chinese, you will definitely be surprised. You probably think that you are located in some middle east cites and they are bombarded by the US air force, meanwhile, countless of grenades are exploding all around you and if you go to the hospital, you might see that there are many people who were injured in the "war" are coming... _________________ discount accommodation melbourne |
