In January it`s summer over in South Africa so - unless you`re out of luck - you won`t need much of raingear.
Impossible to tell the weatherfuture ofcourse, but Wunderground gives you some predictions and - may come in handy in your case - also the possibility to have a look at the past... For that : look at a city and than for "Weather History for This Location " Looking at the past 3-4 years gives you a good indication of what you may expect, but it`s no guarantee ofcourse... |

The precise weather will vary throughout all those countries, you'll need to do some research on specifics, but generally speaking the summers are wet, so travelling in January will be wetter, hotter and humid.
The vegetation will be lush so spotting animals will be more difficult, especially as they won't congregate at water holes so much.
I spent aug-nov 2008 visiting all the places you are planning to visit (except Zambia, saw the Victoria Falls from Zimbabwe instead) on a combination of 4x4 self drive and backpacker tour, so let me know if you need any suggestions or advice. _________________ Robert

Dont worry about too much wet gear- with all those destinations I m sure you will have hot sunny weather most of the time. _________________ www.african-vacation.co.za |

South Africa's climate is generally sunny and pleasant, but there is considerable regional variation: the northwest is very arid, the south is temperate, and the northeast has a more typically tropical climate.
Thanks !!!!! |
