What do you all think of Tasmania as a vacation destination? Has anyone ever been there?

The author who wrote this article: tinyurl.com/lte3d5 …called it an "eco-paradise" and seemed to really like it!

Please advise!

that article contained precious little about Tasmania. More of it was the writer lamenting that he'd left his pregnant wife at home. Frankly the whole thing sounded a bit whiny.

But yes...having been to Tassie, I highly recommend it. But if you're just going to go on about leaving your spouse or significant other behind, don't go. You'll spoil your own fun, and the fun of those around you.

Not to miss -- Freycinet National Park, Friendly Beach just south of Bicheno, the Tasmanian Devil Research Centre, The Nut at Stanley.

There is certainly enough to do down here to keep you occupied for a good while. I second Freycinet, my favorite place in Tas.

A friend of mine who worked as a rafting instructor went there specifically to do an amazing rafting trip. He knows what he's on about and said it was very good.

Plenty of info about it on google if you're interested.

That would probably have been the Franklin River, it goes through possibly the best wilderness in all of Tasmania, if you can afford it it would be awesome.

We have been there a couple of times. I would recommend either doing the east coast or the west coast if you are going for less than 10 days. There is so much to see and while you can do the whole of Tassie in 7 days you really spend most of it driving and not enjoying it.

Well, Tasmania would certainly be a very good choice. The island's got a lot of interesting places to visit. And this one is especially ideal for those on a winter trip.

Tasmania is one of the best places i've visited.
The friendly people, the deserted beach especiall the east coast region with its super bay of fire beach, absolutely ripper.
And i do believe tassie is one of the best enjoyable driving experience in my life, the nice roads with great views, absolutely unforgettable.
PS:If you're planning to visit it,i suggest a minimum of 7 days since there is so many places to visit.
Cheers
