Hi All,
It's been a long long time Since I've been on this site. I wish I had an excuse, but really I dont.
I will have a 12 hour overlay in London on my way back from Dar Es Salaam.
Will this give me enought time to go see some sites ? as I have never been to London.
If so , what is the best way, is there a bus or train from the Airport to the center of London?
Any info would be appreciated.

WOW! Look who the cat threw up!! I wondered where you had disappeared to...
Which airport will you have the layover? Gatwick or Heathrow?
If Gatwick, you can catch the train to Victoria Station which isn't far from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
From Heathrow, you can take the Picadilly Line up to Central London (Picadilly Circus) and a simple map of central London will help you find what you're looking for. Alternatively you can take the Heathrow Express to Paddington (much more than the tube, but much faster).
How much you can see may depend on what is open and what time your layover is. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

Thanks for the warm welcome back
It will be arriving at Heathrow at 6.00 AM , so I have the day in London.
Flying out at 5.30 PM. Looks like the Express is the way to go.
RT , Paul what do you suggest In that short of time to visit, I'm not that found of Museum.
I guess the most accessible and easiest sights to get to. Or maybe I should
just do a 1/2 day sight seeing tour. Any ideas at this point would be well
received.
I have just planned a 1 month trip from Cape Town to Dar Es Salaam, so my travel planning is at its limit. I thought for London, just better ask the expert. yeah that you Paul and RT.

damn, Red Tape got in first.
personally what i would want to do is to take a stroll through the parks, especially having been cooped up on a plane for hours. but that wouldn't be much fun in the rain.
other activites i could suggest would be museums, something like the victoria and albeert museum. one advantage of that is that it is free to enter, but remember not to get too distracted by the exhibitons and miss your connection _________________ Canary Holidays |
