Please let me know your favorite place to vacation in the Caribbean area, between these: Belize, Barbados, Cozumel, Roatan. I love to snorkel, need I nternet access, NOT a party animal, would prefer no car- a couple stores/restaurants in walking distance. Thankyou!! _________________ Vietnam Travel | Sapa homestay tours,Sapa trekking,Sapa hiking, homestay sapa | Mui Ne holiday |

Hi chithanh119,
Can't really comment on Belieze or Roatan, though I sure they are very beautiful.
Had some family pass through Cozumel briefly on a cruise and I understand it is great place to visit but not sure about the snorkeling.
Barbados I can definitely tell you about it is certainly my favourite island and one of the best choices in the Caribbean period.
The infrastructure in Barbados is very good for Internet connectivity etc. I am in Barbados right now and have had no problem with the high speed connectivity. Most places, hotels, private villas apts have internet capabilities.
The snorkeling in Barbados is fantastic! The water in crystal clear and I from what I am told visibility is between 80 - 90 feet most of the year. The two most popular coasts are the South and West Coast - the West Coast waters are generally tranquil which makes them perfect for snorkeling.
If you decide to go to Barbados you will find that there a number of reasonably priced places in addition to the super luxury ones. Barbados is physically not that big of an island and most accommodations are within walking distance of restaurants, stores, pubs etc.
The South Coast has a bit more in the way of night life and "action" than the West Coast but both areas have a number of shops, restaurants etc. that are within walking distance.
Public transportation is also very good, should you choose to explore other parts of the island.

Cozumel is fantastic for snorkelling, though I believe the dual hurricane hit of 2005 did a fair bit of damage to the reefs? Never been to Roatan but again, that's meant to be a slightly quieter version of Cozumel - mainly because it's off the beaten track a bit more. Maybe think of Isla Mujeres perhaps too? Or even some of the quieter resorts down the Mayan Riviera such as Tulum or Akumal? I can't really comment on Barbados, but I would reccomend Mexico/Honduras/Belize simply because it's location: 2nd largest barrier reef system in the world. _________________ http://www.holidayhelpme.co.uk

After working on cruise ships for 22 years i fell in live with Cozumel in the early 90's when the diving was pristine the food was cheap and the best hotels were $50 a night. I have frequented Cozumel many more times over the recentb years and seen the island grow more commercial by the year. The diving is still awsome but the reefs have had their fair share of damage, either by hurricane or cruise ship or cruise ship passengers. Still a beautiful island, but too busy.... _________________ Kelvin@cellflare.com

My favourite place in the Caribbean without question is Cuba.
I know there is a lot of poverty and problems there but from a tourist point of view, the country has an excellent vibe and culturally is fascinating. Also some lovely beaches and the food is outstanding. _________________ Venice apartments, Amsterdam accommodation, Barcelona apartments . |

For a quiet back to nature vacation, including snorkelling try Dominica (Dom-in-neeka) not to be confused with the Dominican Republic. _________________ FV432 |

Hi there,
I think Cozumel or Barbados are the two best options from your list in the Caribbean region.
All the best with wherever you choose to go.

Aruba, Aruba, Aruba!!!!!!!! Love that place, it is outside of hurricane belt.....rarely see's any rain, and is a very humid/hot island all year with little fluctuation in temperatures. The people are wonderful, they wont bullshit, cheat or mistreat you, they treat you just like guest. No crappy sales people trying to hawk cheap crap on the streets or beaches, the law only allows selling of souvenirs to be done in appropriate places. Oh and the water is perfectly safe to drink, never worry about that. One caveat: if you don't like desert climate/local........and want more tropical, then Aruba isn't for you. Stay at Renaissance, they have private island and boat picks you right up in the lobby of hotel, its 5 minute ride from hotel........for hotel guest only, (food/alcohol served from large tiki style huts) they have halfway decent food on this private getaway and plenty of alcohol, servers serving you on beach. Dont forget to check out party bus, it bar hops with dinner from 6 to midnight, dropping you off at your hotel. _________________ colorado springs cpa
