Hi everyone,
I'm glad I found this forum and this is my first post here. I am a college student and plan to go to Montreal for spring break with some friends. However, I'm not experienced at all in traveling so I don't really know where to start. I was planning to take Amtrak from New York to Montreal, as this seems to be the cheapest option. As for lodging, I plan to stay in a hostel. Anyone have recommendations for hostels? If possible, hostels that are less than 20 USD a night (if they exist).
I'm also looking for some things to do in Montreal. What are the highlights? What things are necessary to do or see within a one-week time frame? Also, how is public transportation? What is the easiest way to get around? Also, I am planning to hit some clubs at night. Anyone know of any good 18+ night clubs? I know these are broad questions but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

As for hostels, most places in the downtown core are pretty cheap, both in price and in quality. Head down to St Denis street near Rene Levesque and there are tons of hostels. Average price is close to $20 per night, but don't expect much.
Food is pretty cheap. Pizza is like $1.50 per slice... You can take the bus or metro almost anywhere, but you have to buy tickets. I don;t think that we have a weekly pass program.
Most nightclubs are ok-ish. You can go to some bars on St Laurent and there are some good clubs there. Tourists mostly hang out on Crescent street though. |

Hi
Montreal is actually a good place for cheap accommodation - there are lots of cheap hotels and good quality Montreal hostels.
I’d recommend Hotel Montreal Espace Confort for a student break as it’s in the city’s lively Latin Quarter.
There’s also tons of great nightlife. There are bars and clubs around St Laurent Boulevard and St Catherine Street East in downtown Montreal. Club Dome on St Catherine Street West is a great bet for a big, messy spring break night out – it’s a huge, fun venue.
hope it helps! _________________ [sig removed - banned user] |

| That is just great! Montreal is a great city to spend your vacations and welcomes visitors at their best. The city offers some good places to visit and has locations of varied interests. Old Montreal is a great place to visit and the historic city centre is rich in museums, shops, restaurants and grey stone architecture spread out along narrow, cobblestone streets. It is also home to the Vieux Port attractions and lively public squares like Place Jacques-Cartier. |

Finding a hostel for $20/night might be hard. $30 is more like it.
Shopping: Downtown is the best (McGill Mall)
Transportation: Use the bus and metro
Food: Not expensive, unless you go to a buffet ($11-$17) _________________ Voyage Montreal |

in getting around Montreal I would suggest the metro as it has the most points to different landmarks and you know.. the touristy places _________________ RV hire USA |
