Cartagena to Medellin Route?

Hello,
I am going to ship a vehicle to Cartagena. From there I shall drive to Medellin. And I am wondering which route is the best/safest to take. Some of my group members are worried about it, as they believe the FARC are in that area.
Road 2 through Turbo, will get me to the Panamerican Highway faster but it brings me closer to Panama border, donde el Farc are known to be.
OR
Road 11 through Yarumal seems shorter but maybe a smaller worse highway.
Asi si ustedes could help me I'd really appreciate it! Como qual es better quality of a road, potholes, speed bumps...etc which is safest, which is fastest to travel.
