i definitely recommend Casa del Mochilero. I've been to Lima 4x and stayed there every time. It's a family run hostel in a house like atmosphere. It's really chilled out, and in one of the best safest parts of Lima. Also its really cheap which is a bonus.

Keep in mind when you arrive there, there's the next door neighbour which is trying to reap in the benefits of Casa del Mochilero's success so he's copied it. So when your standing in front of them both, its the one on the 2nd floor on the right. (Not the one to the left with the flags).

Hostel Name: Casa del Mochilero
Address: Chacaltana 130A, 2nd Floor, Lima, Peru
Phone: +51 4449089

Cheers,
Clint

If your are thinking about travelling to Colombia, consider visit Leticia and the Amazon region. Leticia is easy to get around and it is a very calm and safe city. Leticia is a good place to study Spanish.

I studied Spanish at a Spanish Language School, The Amazon Spanish College, and had a great time in Leticia. I made many new friends both other international students and locals. Leticia is the capital of the department of Amazonas in Colombia and is located in the most Southern part of the country where Colombia, Brazil and Peru meet on the Amazon river. The unique setting of the city makes it a direct neighbor with the Brazilian city of Tabatinga and with the island of Santa Rosa, Peru.

Leticia has approximately 55 000 inhabitants. Year round, there's lots of wildlife to be seen in the Amazon region, including monkeys, ocelots and dolphins, and array of birdlife and there are also indigenous villages that can be visited. You might also go fishing or Caiman spotting. The School arranges day tours and rainforests excursions in and around Leticia, as well as lodgment in natural reserves by the Amazon River.

Popular are jungle trips to the nearby Amazon jungle, the natural reserve Marasha in Peru, the national park Amacayacu, the Ticuna settlement Puerto Nariño, Isla de los Micos (Monkey Island) and the visit of communities of the Ticuna, Yagua, Huitoto and Bora tribes. It is also nice to hire a Bicycle or go on a night time safari.

Interesting tours:
Puerto Nariño & Tarapoto Lakes (see the pink dolphins)
Monkey Island
Walk through Leticia
Bicycle trip to Tabatinga (Brazil)
Nighttime Safari
Bird Watching
Kayaking in the Yahuarcaca lakes[/list]
