Hi Everyone.

Thought of compiling a list of amazing places to visit in Africa based on individual experience. Despite the likelihood of it being somehow subjective, it would be a great resource just for reference by those who would like ideas regarding a visit to Africa.

Here we go : from individual experience, what are six places that you would most certainly recommend to a friend who was visiting Africa?

This is a really difficult question.

From a Southern African safari/wildlife experience I love the following destinations.

Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

The Pafuri region of the Kruger National Park, South Africa

The Okavango Delta, Botswana

South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Etosha National Park, Namibia

The Savuti/Linyanti region in Botswana

and last but certainly not least

Kafue National Park, Zambia

Personally, from my experience in (which is limited to South Africa):

* Climbing Table Mountain on a clear day: Cape Town
* Swimming in the sea with penguins: Boulders beach Cape Town.
* Taking a game walk through the bush in search of the Big 5 Kruger: Kruger National Park.
* Abseiling down the gorges of Storms River, and tubing to the sea: Tsitsikamma National Park.

I can honestly say the most amazing experience of my whole life so far has been trekking to visit the mountain gorilla in Uganda. A life changing experience.

The Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti and Masai Mara (Tanzania/Kenya)
Water Rafting the Zambezi and visiting Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
The Valley of the Kings (Egypt)
Marakesh (Morrocco)
Climbing Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
Tracking Mountain Gorillas (Uganda/ Rwanda)

I have more than six to list but the above six were my most memorable travels withing Africa.
I would also recommend Cape Town South Africa where I toured Table Mountain, the Wine Route, Robbeen Island and seafood at the V&A waterfront. Incredible experinence. I went on a Safari to Mpumalanga National Park . . .

Say what?

I can grant you half a point for Zambia. After all, a small part of the falls (the non impressive part) is in Zambia.

But I suggest you take some geography classes.

I agree Jochen, the Zambian Part might not be all that impressive more so during the dry spell, but still I believe offers much to be enjoyed.

Or may be I should put it across like this:How about visiting Mosi Oa Tunya National Park then ( which has a Wildife Sanctuary Section and the Victoria Falls Section.)

Thanks for the insight though- I sure should consider signing up for some Geography Remedials-just to be sure am not all that rusty.
