We'll take that as an apology, should we?

It's a shame you have taken this in the manner that you have. Please don't make a mountain out of a mole hill. You crossed the line with regards to what's allowed here, and I pointed it out... that's all. It wasn't meant in a vindictive way that you've clearly interpreted it. I'm sure you'd rather be warned than just let you go and do it again and find yourself on the ban list.

I also feel checking every link in every post in such a way, invasive and a little over zealous to say the least.

Not every link is checked, only those that around suspicion. Yours looked suspicious to me for two key reasons.

1. I didn't see the need for posting the link, even if it wasn't your site - it kind of seemed a bit 'out of the blue'
2. the site had no Google PR so, at a guess, hadn't been promoted much, and was thus unlikely to be known by many people.

I therefore did a WHOIS lookup and - lo and behold - it turns out it's your site. Don't expect me to apologise for finding that out.

Whilst there are legitimate ways of finding out who owns domain names there are also highly dubious and illegitimate ways and this is why I found Paul's response a disproportionate reaction to what was a minor misdemeanour.

Well, I have no idea what those illegitimate ways are (I'm not the hacker that you accuse me of being), and don't see why they would be necessary when you can do it more easily by conventional means.

As for 'clever', I am well aware that you were being sarcastic. Thanks for spelling that out for me. Rolling Eyes

Now then... perhaps we should return to the original topic? (If instead you wish to continue to contest my moderation, feel free to PM me.)

Yes Paul, 'we' can take an admission of making a mistake as an apology, though not as an admission of deceit, which is what you accused me of and has a completely different meaning. The fact is, had you responded to this mistake in a more mature and professional manner, an apology would have been immediately forthcoming.

Having said that, as the owner of this site, it is entirely up to you how you run and moderate it and the tone you use in your replies (and have used in many of your replies to other posts) and I expect no apology from you.

If you want to ban me, go ahead - it's your site, your game, your rules - but banning me and members like me will make your forum a less informative place and, as a consequence, attract less solely publicity seeking visitors and more legitimate questions as opposed to those posted simply to advertise members' sites.

Bon Dia

Hi

I believe this is down to supply & demand as most things
If people are prepared to pay their bill in full 6 months ahead of the travel date, then the hotels will build on this and incorporate this into their policies & procedures
Obviously you're not the first to be asked and presumably their "testing" period is over - so there must have been a lot of travellers who think this is acceptable
I personally feel this is unacceptable but then I don't have a lot of money!!
