Hi everyone
I'm thinking of getting an iPhone and have lots of questions...
1) do you have one and, if so, what do you think?
2) I read an article that suggested people in the UK might be best waiting until January when it would be clearer as to what Tesco's new deal would be. But elsewhere I read that there's unlikely to be much competition because Apple are not budging on price. Is there much point waiting? I guess there will just be the incentive of a few clubcard points and perhaps not much more...
3) is there much point in a pay-as-you-go tariff? My understanding is that if you pay for just the handset, you pay through the nose, and maybe the £30 a month contract deal is a better one. I don't tend to make many calls, though.
4) what about the alternatives? The main one seems to be the HTC Hero running Android. Is that any good? The review on engadget didn't seem to be as favourable as some others. Are there any other viable alternatives? (I hear Google are likely to bring one out, but that could be some time off...)

I wouldn't bother buying an Iphone on Pay as You go - Contract is a lot better value for money, and you get lots of data free etc.
Depends what you want from a phone, as apple say "we got an app for that"
Maybe you could build a AT app _________________ Looking For Car Hire?

I wouldn't have a clue where to start...
I know there's a guy uses the business forums via his iPhone.
I think I'd find it really useful as a diary in conjunction with Google Calendar but there's lots of other nice features and apps, many of which I guess could be useful to travellers.
eg.
- translation tool
- compass/map
- currency converter
- weather
- flight into
etc. etc. etc.
Great stuff, eh?
I think you are probably right about a contract being the best way forward, considering the price you get charged if you just want to buy the handset... _________________ UK Hotels - UK Selfcatering - UK B&Bs - UK Attractions

| Yes - in many ways I really cant see why anyone would use PAYG at the moment, some of the deals you get for contract are pretty nifty and thye upgrades make it worth while |
