Prices rose up and seem to still be up even after the recession. Playa del Carmen however is a bit nicer to visit. Good deals are around right now for Cancun though

yes with the recession taking place, few people want to travel for luxury that's why more deals are coming up too..

Playa del Carmen is good to visit and then there is Tulum, what Playa was about 10 years ago. Nice Beaches there.
