It'a tough call NZ or Oz.
For me personally it has to be Oz just because of the size, the climate, the beaches and the fact it's more forward thinking.
New Zealand is also great and if you're into sports and brilliant scenery, then this is a better choice. However, I found it just a little old fashioned compared to Oz but the people are nicer!! _________________ Travelling Alone? We Connect Single Travellers.

As you might imagine these are a bit like comparing apples and oranges, but yes I would go with NZ if you don't have too much time on your hands. There are few bugs in NZ and the scenery is very much dramatic compared with many parts of AU. If you are into some warmer weather then about now will be hot on the Goldcoast of Australia which can be a lot of fun for younger people..
The whole east coast of AU offers a lot of beauty, as does the rest of Aust, but New Zealand is your best bet I'd say- and you'll want to go back for the skiing and snowboarding in winter btw!
All the best! _________________ info on getting Carnival cruise deals |

IMHO it has to be Australia. Having spent a lot of time in both (and loving both) I want to go back to Australia. Possibly because it is so much larger and so diverse and there is so much that I have not yet seen. _________________ Yoga Holidays

Both places are great too! But in my opinion, I prefer New Zealand. I like natural, I love beautiful white sandy beaches, perfect sunsets, crystal water, and wonderful island.
You should take 1 week to visit: Sky Tower, Bay of Islands, Tongariro National Park, Queenstown, Fiordland National Park, etc.. _________________ Best place for me!. |

This is not an easy decision to make.
I have, though, been very interested in heading to the Whitsunday Island chain every since seeing imagery from the 'Best Job in the World' campaign.
I have also heard that National Geographic and Tourism Queensland have teamed up to present a 6-part TV series about Ben's 'Best Job in the World'!
This may not be the deciding factor, but if I know Nat Geo...they put together wonderful documentaries and it might be a tad influential!
Apparentely it airs sometime in August, 2010! |

Not sure there really is a 'best' decision. It comes down to the type of things you want to do.
It is true that as NZ is small, you are likely to see more of the country in a short space of time...
But, I think that Australia might have more diversity of things to do and see (and better weather).
Personally, I think they're both worth visiting! _________________ Gold Coast Holidays | Surfers Paradise Holiday Apartments |

Maybe your right....there is not a 'best' destination in the world. But it comes down to preferences and opinions.
However, some destinations are more established and can offer a vast array of experiences for a variety of different types of travellers.
One of those destinations is Australia. Tropic, desert, reef, mountains, snow...it really runs the gamut of experiences! |
