Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

I'm heading to Perth in two weeks as part of a too-rushed trip (I know but the tickets are purchased, what can you do?).

I have reservations for two nights in Perth, but would like to go south to Margaret River and maybe Pemberton to see wineries and the southwest forests....open to any other suggestions as well.

So, anyone with recommendations at about the A$100 per night range? I don't need fancy, clean, my own bathroom and pleasant. I'm not into hosteling or backpackers anymore.

Also what about drive times? How long from Perth to each of those places?

wow going coastal, but oh my perth going down to margaret river is like 5 hours..
you can break it from perth - mandurah 78-80 km mandurah is a pretty nice town one of the popular beachside destination in WA only a few tourist sites though but it has all the facilities.
then you can take it from mandurah to the wine producing region of margaret river i guess you'll be staying a couple of nights there. so take time to visit the caves as well. theres just too many tourist sites for south west capes diversion. if you visit dunsborough before margaret that would also be a good idea.

If you're going through dunsborough I'd also suggest going out of the way for just a moment to go see Yallingup, just 10 mins out of Dunsborough. I can back that up, it'll take about between 4 and 5 hours getting from Perth to Marg's so allow a bit of time between stays.
All the best!
