Hi Guys
I will be going to Australia in July/August for just under 4 weeks. I want to start in Sydney and finish in Melbourne but I'm not sure what to do between the two. Has anyone got any suggestions?
Also since I haven't really flown before would you recommend I book flights through a travel agent or by myself? Either way how soon should I be looking into it?
Thanks |

4 weeks is too much for melbourne to Sydney if you are planning a roadtrip. If you are backpacking 4 weeks is fine. There are too many things to see and do, im not really sure what your interested in, Sydney has great museums, architecture, beaches and restaurants. I suggest you take time to dine and walk around The rocks, and get travel info at the visitor centre at the rocks itself located @ george Street. Or if you pass along DArling harbour first, theres also a visitor centre there @ Palm Cove. _________________ RV hire USA |

Sorry I should have explained it a bit better. I want to spend a week in Sydney and a week in Melbourne- I know what I want to do in the cities so don't really need advice on these places. So that will leave about 2 weeks to make the trip between them. When looking it up most of the information I'm coming across is about the coastal roads but I can't drive so will be looking at public transport.
I'm not really into the 'experience' type things like diving or hiking, I really just want to see places. I'd like to stop in Canberra but apart from that its difficult to decide a route. I am researching what there is to see but it would be helpful to have some opinions. |

if you are arriving in Sydney, why dont you take a train travel to adelaide via indian pacific. (this route runs twice a week) from sydney you'll be arriving to adelaide the next day.... or take the Greyhound Bus that is still about 24 hours of travel. it would be a lot comfortable with indian pacific though.
Then take it from adelaide to melbourne via Overland train that runs thrice weekly. (I love this route) when you are done with meblourne...proceed to canberra through Greyhound Bus service either take the morning or the evening ride at 8am or 8pm. arriving 4pm and 4am of the next day respectively. you can fly out from canberra or head your way back to sydney. _________________ RV hire USA |
