Hi,

I'm looking to go to Las Vegas next year (solo traveler). Last Time I went to Vegas I stayed in the Stratosphere.

I am looking for any advice on which is the best hotel in Vegas to stay in.

Ideally on the Strip as I will not have my own transport.

Any ideas?? Confused

a lot of people on TA suggest Mandalay Bay. but you need to work out your budget and what you want from the hotel. where do you want to gamble or see a show, or which sites do you wnat to visit. that would help determine what part of the Strip you stay at

I am really interested in the best value for money on the hotel - budget is flexible as can always drop a day if required.

I would be going to shows - but that doesn't play in my choice of hotel.
I will not be gambling. But would like a good choice of restaurants and shops.

Thanks Smile

Hi Debs
Since you stayed at the Stratosphere (far end of Strip) last time,. I would suggest staying a little closer to the center, or the other end of the strip this time.
An interactive map of the Strip --You wll note the Stratosphere has fallen off the map. Wink http://www.coolvegasmap.com/

Because you mentioned shopping, I going to suggest you look at Caesar's Palace Hotel
(the Forum shops)- http://www.caesarspalace.com/casinos/caesars-palace/casino-misc/shopping-at-caesars-palace-detail.html
and The Mandalay Bay Hotel (Mandalay Place shops) http://www.mandalaybay.com/thingstodo/clothing.aspx located between the Mandalay Bay and the Luxor Hotels. I usually stay at TheHotel-at Mandalay Bay Hotel (I bedroom suite) but the standard rooms at both Mandaly Bay and Caesar's Palace are very very nice.

Debs, besides shopping what interests you? Spa? Great pool? Great restaurants? I would suggest looking at the various hotels websites and seeing what they offer.
Then join their e-mail programs so you can recieive better room rates, & promotions. I usually gravitate to the hotels that offer a discount on the their spa package, but somtimes I go with the dinning offers. it just depends.

BTW, Debs with your love of theater, you can't come to Vegas and not see a show.
The Lion King is playing at the Mandalay Bay Hotel http://www.mandalaybay.com/entertainment/LionKing.aspx
and I also like the Cirque Du Soleil shows.
http://www.lasvegas-nv.com/cirque-du-soleil.htm
The "Mystere" at Treasure Island Hotel is very good as is 'O" at the Bellagio Hotel and "The Beatles Love" at The Mirage Hotel http://www.mirage.com/
Again, consider joining the hotels e-mails programs you'll be offered all kinds of promotions including show and room package deals. As you can see a lot depends on what your plans are.
Let me know if I can be of any more help. I get over to Vegas all the time.

Hi there,

We just got back from a trip which included the Flamingo.

If you go there, request a refurbished room!!!

We were first convinced to pocket out 20$ a night extra for a Strip view room, only to find that a front "poster" of the Osmonds is stuck over all the windows which obscures the view massively!!!

The first room we were given had a smashed front Window!!?! and a door of the wardrobe hanging off the hinges.

The replacement room on a higher floor was not much better. In my parents room, the lampshades were missing and the washbasin tap was lose and could be pulled out up to a foot!!!

We now know from friends that the Flamingo also have refurbished rooms for the same rate so don't be conned or stay somewhere else.

Regards and have a nice stay.

hey would always offer the go room for an upgrade about 20 or 25 USD... guests always want the strip view. so better way is to request and preview it.

If you're right on the strip you most likely will be walking distance to just about anything you could possibly want. However, it's the little things that matter when trying to find the hotel that works best for you.

I'l Suggest you to stay in :- Venetian Hotel

It is the place where every detail has been carefully designed to provide you with a memorable stay – from the world’s largest standard suites to the city’s most elegant casino.

If you consider the incredible restaurants alone the Venetian would be at the top of most lists of best hotels in Las Vegas. But it can be a bit pricey.

MGM is always a great hotel to stay at, personally because they have some of the best chips. During the day you should go to the hoover dam or if you're able to take a tour of the Grand Canyon, it'll pass the time considerably quicker. Don't forget to try and do one of the food challenges, there is a 6lb burger that is about $40, but it's free if you can eat it all in one sitting. Good luck I hope you have fun.

just want to clip-in uncommonly attention paid stuff like the phone bill and the service fee.

Your phone bill can poke your eye be careful with the rates, grand hotels make it to a point by not telling rates upfront. your bacon and egg can be $40-45 by a room delivery.
