What are your views on space travel? Specifically Richard Branson's Virgin Galactica flights?
I personally think it is just far too expensive for what is basically 3 minutes in space. Although, I would love to experience the adventure (who wouldn't) there is just no way I would spend a couple of hundred bucks for the short period.
So, how about staying in a space hotel? There is talk that this is on it's way to us - sometime in the future, but would this be fun?
In some ways, it would provide interesting views from the bedroom window. However, what would you do with yourself that you couldn't do anywhere else or at home? No beaches, mountains to climb, locals to meet (presumably). So would you pay out to stay in a space hotel? _________________ Travelling Alone? We Connect Single Travellers.

I doubt space tourism will be available in my lifetime (I'm 57).
But, how about space cams? A camera on the Space Station or other orbiter that can be controlled by visitors over the net.
I saw a great deer cam like this. Visitors to the site could actually control the camera and pan around, zoom in and out etc.
Give me a space cam, and a 30 inch monitor, and I'm happy. _________________ 120 Full Screen Florida Nature Videos

I spent a lot of time in "space" when I was a teenager, but to actually physically go there would be a treat.
I admit 3 minutes would suck, but a day would be OK. I like the space hotel idea. _________________ Victoria BC Tourism |

TBH it sounds like a lot of money for a few minutes zero-G, not sure I'd bother, unless I had buckets of cash hanging around.
I'm not even sure if a "space hotel" would be that attractive for me. I mean if you were talking a place on the Moon, or Mars, where you could go out and stretch your legs a bit, maybe see the sites, I might be tempted, but I doubt anything like that's going to be available in my lifetime, or at least before I'm so old that being hurtled into space on the back of a massive rocket has lost it's appeal. *shrug* _________________ car hire Italy - car hire France - car hire Spain |

Would hope to do it one day. I would imagine in 20 years time it will be fairly common. Seeing the earth in space in zero-g must be an amazing experience. _________________ Norfolk Hotel Guide |

wouldnt have much to see in space tho except float around
Plus the nearest planet would take me years to reach.. not very excited by the prospect of space travel now. _________________ Sharing my travel experiences, reviews around the world at the Best Travel Blog PassportChop.com. Contact me to share yours too..

I don't think I'd ever pay for a three minute weightless experiance (maybe I'd go if it was free) and I really don't want the 24 hour a day zero-g experiance. I would like a simulated gravity (the whole spinning wheel thingy-hope that's not too technical) with pods close to the hub for weightless games and long term experiments.
I imagine it would be nice if spending months working on your zero-g nanite assembley process if you could come "home" after work take a shower, eat recognizable food off a plate and sleep in a real bed. Even if only at 75% simgrav.
BTW The Earth to Orbit cost will be $100,000 perperson. |
