Hi, i was just wondering if anyone had travelled across canada by rail, bus or both? i want to go for 4-6 weeks in summer '09...its far away i know but its better to be organised! i have been on the VIA website and talked to someone, but they said that you'd have to pre-book ever train journey in advance...something i dont really want to do. something like inter-rail canada would solve all my problems but i was told there was no such thing!
any relevant reply would help
Cheers,
Jake |

Canada's rail system is not good at all, and not very cheap either. Because fuel has been relatively inexpensive here until this year, many Canadians don't travel by rail. Something to check out would be Greyhound buses. Either way, traveling across Canada is quite expensive. _________________ http://DiscountDesignerLuggage.com |

you could try to hitchhike if you're very flexible with your dates, or check out the hostel boards (or some websites) and find some people with a car going into the same direction. the trick is to stick to the big cities here, because its sometimes hard to get out of small towns this way.
but try the train at least once if you get a good deal, just for the experience. and its much more comfy than the bus. _________________ get around cheap: Backpacker carpools & road trips |

If you dictate your decisions based on movies, and cannot separate fiction from fact, maybe you shouldn't travel at all. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |
