I am a big fan of travelling to major sports events esp. to see major European football teams play. Any advice as far as getting there safely and cheaply and scalping tickets from touters (esp that!)? Any ideas or suggestions for SA2010

To get tickets for South Africa 2010 world cup sign up on the FIFA website. You have just missed the first ballot. I was in there but in the end didn't apply as don't want to pay so much in airfares and hotels.
There will be 1 or 2 more ballots and that is your best bet.

There's no such thing as safe and cheap tickets. If you want to buy cheap, it is almost certain you're buying fake tickets, if you want to buy safely, buy officially... sometimes it is possible to obtain tickets from local message boards/classifieds, but then again, how will you know if it is legitimate?

You can get tickets safe and cheap as I have doen it for several major sporting events.
Safe means gettign the tickets through the official ballots.
Cheap once again also means buying them through the official ballots.
For Euro 2004 quarterfinal tickets for example only paid Euros 40 each.

Liverpool are playing here in Thailand soon and tickets are easy to come by and cheap and what a great place to visit even if your not a Liverpool fan.

If you're travelling all the way to SA for the event, you want to have tickets sorted before you leave. It's an expensive trip to risk not even seeing a game! Having said that, there are some great places to stay and things to do out there, so it wouldn't be a complete waste..

Always wanted to try Kite boarding. Have done windsurfing and years of sailing, so I think that may be the next step. Sounds like fun Smile

In case any of you never realised but are interested then the Ryder Cup 2010 tickets ballot is not live - just go to the offical Ryder Cup site to apply for genuine tickets from the organisers.

I have traveled several times to NASCAR races -- Atlanta, Dover, Richmond, Daytona, Pocono, New Hampshire, Watkins Glen

Someday I'd like to travel to an F1 race. Not sure which one, the Italian Grand Prix or San Marino could be at the top of the list, but there are so many historical tracks that would be interesting to go to. However, it looks like Silverstone is probably out of the running.

And being at a Le Mans race would be a great time too!
