Teachers will experience the weightlessness of space in a weekend of parabolic flights from Kennedy Space Center during a pilot program that could bring commercial flights to the shuttle landing strip.

Zero-G's proposal was one of a handful of responses to KSC's request for ideas on using the landing facility. NASA made the announcement Friday.

More here.

Interesting article but the price is just too much for a regular person but I guess this kind of "activities" are for rich people only..

id rather hold out and save my money till I can actually goto space (not that i can imagine that would ever be in my price range either!!), just going up and down in an aeroplane in the sky doesnt seem any closer to space travel than diving underwater to me, with the added inconvenicence of crashing to the floor every 30 secs when it comes out of its curve

Yeah I think I'd rather wait until you can get anywhere close to experiencing space. I believe I heard somewhere that you may be able to board some shuttle that will take you to the outer atmosphere of the planet, but not exactly into space. Of course it may be expensive for quite some time yet, but that'd definitely be worth doing once in life Smile

I know Richard Branson has been trying to get his Space Travel business off the ground for a few years. If anyone can make it affordable, he will. I would'nt hold my breath though, it's going to be a while yet, especially with the price of fuel going up all the time.

IMO it doesn't seem like a worthwhile trip anyway, beacuse it's hardly like you are going anywhere - just to the edge of the atmosphere and back. I would imagine it would be very much like your usual aeroplane flight, only difference being, that you would be a flying a lot higher.

Not too sure it would be like "a normal flight". It is something that I certainly hope to do before I "actually" depart this mortal coil.
